Had a thought - may not work. Car boots seem like the best bet cos people can see them working. So what about doing a video of them zooming around at home and put it on youtube and then link it to ebay listing? I once saw a car listing on ebay that had a video of the car engine purring and to be honest it went for far more than it should have !! People had a bit more confidence seeing the video I think.
Now I'm typing it, it seems sillier than when it was in my head
:T Thats a brilliant idea!
I know a company who takes videos to show you how to apply make up and puts them on youtube, they saw a huge sales uplift in those products. People who were looking for a foundation were then prompted to buy the blusher in the video or a nice eyeshadow shade which was featured.
If you are selling a phone or anything electronic it would be good to put a video up to show its in working condition.0 -
hi decided to sell books on amazondo they email you if you get a sale ,and how do you make a profit if same book is listed at 0.1 penceany info would be appreciated
I started selling on amazon few weeks ago and seems pretty straightforward, just list a book for sale and you'll see how it works. Set up sellers ac and then list a book using ISBN, Amazon pulls up book description and info from somewhere else so quick to list. They tell you what fees would be upfront depending on what you type in, ie. the price you set, amazon doesnt charge fees for listing but takes few fees if it sells and a cut of the p&p charge which is £2.75 charged to the buyer on top of your price....so you gotta figure that into your sale price and make sure you aint gonna lose out if book is heavy for example. Set your price at what you want, amazon will tell you lowest price selling for and marketplace price etc when you list it, the 1p ones are usually companies as they get extra for their sales for being business sellers, but you prob wont list things for 1p as you wouldnt make alot then, I usually go for a middle ground bet lowest and highest and have found that non fiction sells best - self help, cookery, baby manuals those type of books. Hopefully you will clock up a few sales get some good feedback and then build from there. Amazon does email when you get a sale though I check site myself every other day and you just gotta print package slip and send off item them think 1st class within 2-3 days? Amazon pays what is owing to you every 14 days though you can ask for more regular...hope that helps, I am no expert so if anyone else can add anything feel free!0 -

That's one to try to keep quiet from the other half!
Kind of thing I would do! what type are they baby mauals or reading books? I have bought lots of books in past and got stuck with them, but you may be much mroe ingenious for ways to sell them on at a profit!!! Hope so anyway.0 -
"The seller received your payment on 20 Jan, 2010. Your delivery estimate is 22 Jan, 2010 - 25 Jan, 2010."
I don't know if I'm just being impatient...it's ribbons etc that I wanted fast, so I bought them from a more expensive seller for faster postage. OH is playing Xbox so he's about as useful as a chocolate teapot...I'll send one last message I think, and then do item not received.
I think the car idea is excellent too!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
They're story books. I couldn't resist them! I did think in the worst possible case I could just donate them to my Nephew and the local prison family centre. They're just so fabulously glossy and I remember my excitement reading books as a child - not very objective or MSE I know! This challenge is beginning to cost me money again lolJust £10,852.28p to go...
Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...";
And then do it.0 -

My update is though I have sold and dispatched my very first itemns on ebay and so far have 2 positive feedbacks :j and made about £16 :j not alot but it is £16 more than I had last week and I have managed to get rid of some clutter!! Just need to list the next lot now..... I really want to find something, my niche, I can sell properly though, unfortunately the best I can come up with so far is used shoes and socks, I saw some trainer socks on our local freecycle and nearly did it lol!Life is a work in progress0 -
It might be worth advertising them in schools, or nanny websites...I spent a fortune on children's books as a nanny, and we used to buy bundles from ebay when I worked in a nursery too, as the children get bored of the same books really fast, and they get damaged.
So that might be another avenue? Sorry if you'd already thought of that!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -

they sound nice, I am bookaholic too and so are my sons which is great, they have a bookcase full and I usually buy from booties, charity shops or readitswap it swaps, but do buy new too from bookpeople etc....if nothing else you could give them as birthday presents for all kids you know, look like you are giving them an educational pressie!!! Try Amazon for selling them and or greenmetropolis if £3.00 a book gets you a decent profit, or maybe at local school fair0 -
