Hi clc - I was going to set up a platform for people to sell their ebooks, like Amazon but smaller and not as professional probably !! Sold that well didnt I !

You have two avenues with ebooks - sell for ridculously cheap prices 1p - 99p but sell mountainous amounts. Or charge £5 - £20 per book but dont sell the volume.

I dont know the answer. I think if you do sell ebooks you should have some free ones or cheap ones, and some more expensive ones.

There is software to compile ebooks in a nice format - I have it somewhere on my pc ?!?!

someone mentioned something to me this week, saying 'his mate' makes alot of money on-line selling e-books,

This is something that I have been trying out for a while (sold a few but cant retire yet), I think i depends on whether you are writing them yourself or buying them to resell (I am buying to resell or try to!) the hardest bit is getting traffic to the site, I can set them up with payment buttons, I have all the software for membership sites, affiliates etc...... but getting people to the sites and then buying is another matter!

It would also depend on what market you where aiming for, there is a lot of competition out there especially in the make money niche, and you need to have a list of people to send emails to (preferably that have already bought something from you in the past) and you can make money that way.

I have been giving ebooks away (with my links in!) and they have to sign up to my list first then I can email them with other relevant products for sale but its not as easy as it sounds! (well for me anyway!).

You can load your ebooks onto a website called tradebit.com and they take a small commission if one of yours sell, I have a couple on there but never sold anything!

You need to have the ebooks in pdf format so that no-one can change them or the links, you can download openoffice which is like microsoft office but free! (openoffice.org I think) and in the word equivilant called writer you can save files as pdf.
