Nikki - Please don't shout at me.... my life has just got away with me.
I am behind on my returns, including this year I owe 3 :eek:AAAARG!
The only good news is in the first 2 I didn't actually do any work (due to babies!) and in this latest one (which I had all intentions of doing until my dad had a stroke and I lost alot of time) I have turned over about £900 so I know I don't owe any tax.
My question is do you know if I can submit the old returns online, or do I have to visit my local tax office to sort it out? It is one of thise jobs that is so far behind that I am now putting it off.....
You are not alone !! I hate the things.
I completed one a few years back. I had earnt £3800 for the year and had received £1000 tax rebate through work. I submitted tax return and they asked for the £1000 back !! I couldnt get the lady to explain it to me on the phone, and I couldnt see if I paid them back that £1000 tax was payable on earnings of that amount.
Needless to say I got scared, confused and frustrated and havent done one since.
But I know it needs to be done.VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID

I cant talk as I have things outstanding, but so far I only have scrooge as having completed their tasks :T
Anyone need help ?
Amber - I had to vanish last night so I have only just read the bits about suggestions made to you. Have you looked into ebay idea with tarots? Do you have many contacts in Spain with the English? Would they like tarot card readings? Or are you fluent in Spanish? Do the Spanish like that sort of thing? Can you target people considering moving abroad who may feel they need some spiritual guidance? Any local mags you could advertise in, or estate agents - places ex pat wannabes would visit? Any complexes you could 'set up shop' in their foyer once a month ? Could any of us do local advertising for you in the UK - cards in shops or anything like that and increase traffic to your site? I was just thinking if any of us are doing leaflet drops or trawling shops for free advertising space etc, we could also do your business too?

I really should know better, the IR made my dad bankrupt for not submitting his tax returns for 7 years as they thought he owed money (which he didn't!), and I am the one who had to sort it all out. (Which they were absolutely fantastic and helped us every step of the way!)
But because I haven't been working/earning and devoting any time to my business it just doesn't seem to have happened. I had an aim to get all three done by today but between a horrendous cold which just won't go, my dads stroke and life/small children etc yet again I have missed a deadline. I WILL get it all done asap just wondering if I can do it from home or if I have to admit my failings outloud to the 'tax man'!Life is a work in progress0 -
More ideas! They just keep on coming - and I have noted them all down. I foresee a decorating frenzy on the psycho wall in my bathroom - although it's a very small bathroom with not a lot of wall, so I'll have to use mini post-its lol.
Jane, I'm going to do some crochet flowers too! For brooches though - if you want a pattern I found this, although it might be too big http://teaandcrafting.blogspot.com/2009/12/crochet-flower-brooch-pattern.html. I've never met a surrogate before, it must be the most selfless thing you can do for someone else. Do you keep in touch with the babies and families?0 -
