but from the description I'm guessing he gets blue lips?
sorry i didnt put in what was wrong as the big pic i have you can see no problem! if yu look in his mouth the black stuff isnt a shadow its black stuff on his tounge? brushing his teeth and drinking doesnt make it go away and it lasts for a few days and then disappears? it just seems really strange? i think the blue lips are the camera shadow lol!
Elle, I think you shouldd tell him how you're feeling and why... He deserves to feel bad for it... And then get Ss to set him on fire... Whilst wearing him as a shoe...
i agree!! *HUGE HUGS* though elle, i can imagine how disappointed you feel as us woman always make the extra effort and want to make it all special and dont get the same back.

DKAM hope your ok and you will have your own place and have the boys settled in no time! Its easier for an adult to express emotions than a child and he will be kicking off as he doesnt know what else to do! boredom doesnt help either as i know this nlot kick off even more when they are fed up and driving me up the wall! x

    Evening all.
Oh, and who was it who suggested doing minty icing on a chocolate cake? Whoever it was thank you, it went down a treat. I only just managed to save a sliver to bring home for DH (Feelie got a nice big chunk at lunchtime though - did you share any with DH? ;))

Hi lady, glad you liked it.

We had some yesterday for Bruv's birthday and this time it had melted chocolate on top covered in hundreds and thousands and the mint butter icing in the middle like normal. Was lovely.

Bruv made me cry, he has made me a photo album of all the best pics of Kezia for her first 142 days of life. It's brilliant but I'm not normally a cry-y person and I think he thought he had done something wrong.:o

And thanks to all of you who were telling me about Quidco last week.

The £70 has been received and will be paid out on 28th. Yippee.

And I went off on one at Clarks Village outlet about having to feed Kezia in a diabled toilet and got a lovely email back asking for my address as they would like to send me £30 vouchers to make up for it. And I was given duff info by their staff, there is a proper area - they just didn't tell me about it.

Yeah I hate redbush tea too. I like pretty much all herbal/ fruit tea's, love earl grey (which I do have with milk) but just couldn't get on with roibois. My friend has hers with milk and sugar so it is like earl grey that can be drunk either way.

re baby walkers, I never saw the point myself, my DD loved her door bouncer and loved getting about herself. She could crawl at 6 months, climb at 7 months and so could get everywhere she wanted to go.

    Just read an interesting article:
    http://consults.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/22/the-dangers-of-baby-walkers/

What does everyone else think about baby walkers?

I think the dangers are down to common sence. You should know that a baby will be able to reach higher in a walker and that letting them go near stairs is just plain thick.

Motor development... hmmm... Christopher wasn't allowed to use one because of his motor problems, which makes sence. Michael used one till he was cruising and he walked well within normal expected age range and he showed no ill effects or bad habits from it. ETA, he actually used it till he was crawling, only reason I remember was because he never used it in this house and he was crawling when we moved here, it went straight into the loft (born Sept moved her in April).

Amber now uses one, but mainly because it has a tray infront for toys, she can move backwards and forwards, doesn't point her toes and seems happy for a little while. She likes sitting in it because it gives her freedom to use her hands (and also helps her burp). She also has a door bouncer, but it gets cold with the doors open so we don't use it. And she can't get much time on the floor because of the lamenite.

If the child was in it 24/7 then I agree that there would be some development delay same as if they were in any other chair or position all day. But in moderation and as part of a varied amount of activities then I don't see them doing much harm.

Just my views on it :o

Seth has one and he loves it. I fail to see how they are dangerous and cause injuries though, I think the article has gone a bit OTT on that bit TBH. A bit of an odd quote:
Besides the added dangers of moving faster, falling farther and reaching higher, babies who use walkers learn to crawl, stand and walk later than they would have otherwise, how can they prove this? Babies will do these things when they are ready, you cant look at a baby and say "they will be walking in xx amount of days if it wasnt for the walker" and continue to show delayed motor development for months after they have learned to walk. The delay seems to be a little more than three days for every 24 hours of total walker use. Again, how can they prove this?
Also, that link doesnt list anything specific injury-wise except for falling down the stairs in a walker, and if parents are stupid enough to put a baby in a walker in a place they could fall down the stairs, they dont deserve a baby IMO.
Another thought, since Seth started crawling, he is literally covered from the knees down in bruises, which you could class as "soft tissue injuries" as referred to in that article. Before he could crawl he didnt ever have any, so you could say NOT being in the walker has given him soft tissue injuries, just for arguments sake...
I also believe that his walker improved his reflux no end, as the doctors told me he would suffer until he could walk and his tummy muscles were strengthened. Once we got the walker, his tummy muscles must have strengthened as the reflux stopped within weeks.

Happy birthday Elle, sorry OH is being a willyhead :( but here, have some cake on me anyway :D :bdaycake:

  • Tara - I'm not a fan TBH, but more because I think that they can be used as a dumping ground for kids.

We don't really have room for one, and Benjamin crawled really early so I just left him to get around under his own steam.

Agree with tia though - anyone who uses a babywalker upstairs has got to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic!!

Interestingly no mention there of babies not putting their feet flat which is the usual argument.

Ladybird, lots of brufen and hot water bottles (strapped around me with a scarf!) seems to be helping thank you. x
