Baby walkers are evil contraptions and should be banned.. i know several babies who fell down the stairs in them .. one of them concrete stairs!!

Most babies seem to be left in them for prolonged periods of time which I think must cause pain and posture problems.. their little legs must go numb from lack of blood considering where the seat is..

I have never had one and all of my children learned to walk!

Cazscoob.. Is there something in his cot or sleepsuit.. a ribbon on a blanket? a cuff of a sleepsuit? an ear on a teddy bear or something that he might be sucking when noone notices? It is probably something really silly.. a piece of paper he can reach with a picture on?

  • Searching - Izzy has frozen veg. She used to have it pureed, but now she will quite happily eat frozen peas straight out of the bag (I hasten to add this isn't the way I normally give them to her - I'm not quite that lazy :rotfl:)

Walkers - we didn't have one for Izzy, but I agree with Tara. All things in moderation and all that. I much prefer the push along walkers though.

How did Toby like the push-along this afternoon?

Told him.. he came in and found me in tears (after typing the post about cake.. I want cake, dammit!). Claims it's down to money but that's no excuse as he has the joint acct card all the time and knows he can take cash out and not have to explain it (or say it was petrol, or whatever!) I told him everything I said here and more. He's gone off to sulk.

How's the silent treatment going in your house, Glam? :o

Elle - don't see why he is sulking! My OH doesn't make a big thing of birthdays but even though I say I don't want something he does get me a little something usually flowers (but he's been told I'd rather have chocolate!). I hope he comes home tomorrow with lots for you - better late than never!

It didn't last long - we had words at lunchtime and he apologised.
Jack is really unsettled tonight so I just made a point that it was because he was woken up too early this morning so his whole sleep pattern for the day has been out of sync.

That's actually bullsh1te - he didn't sleep for long when we were out (in fact I only noticed he was awake because Christopher told me!) and was really overtired.

SS - I've tried him on that Goodnight milk tonight. Hoping it satisfies him til morning!

I just spent an hour cleaning my kitchen - wiped down all the cupboards doors, cleaned the fridge and microwave! Aching now though and my back is sore too.

Off to bed once OH gets out the shower

Apparently black tongues can be a sign of thrush or just a buildup of grubbiness caused by babies putting all manner of stuff in their mouths :)

  • hmmm, walkers .. if used for a short amount of time each day (ie not the entire time baby is awake !!) then I personally see no harm in them at all !! Jasmine loved hers and was walking very well on her own by the time she was 1 perfectly and has no problems at all !!
We arent allowed to use one with Dylan as his feet are turned out and his toes curl, so they think it would be a hindrance to him, but I can understand that !

Did I ever tell you about the 2 times my sister went down the stairs in her walker?
:rotfl: Mum is obviously a few sarnies short ;)

as with most things the risks are common sense IMO I have a walker but it's kept at MILs neither of the boys are/were in it for more than an hour per week (and reaching a hour would be rare)
I knew a girl that walked funny because her mum left her in the walker loads, that is poor parental judgement not the walker's fault

Ha ha.. he made himself a chip buttie and seems to have overestimated the chips to bun ratio. Dunno if he was coming back for more later but I've just scoffed the spare chips :p

    Just read an interesting article:
    http://consults.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/22/the-dangers-of-baby-walkers/

What does everyone else think about baby walkers?

I don't like them. When a baby learns to walk pulling themselves up and experimenting, their feet are flat on the floor and their weight is in the correct place. When they are in the baby walker, their weight is supported by their bum and they can walk on tip toe or the sides of their feet. I just didn't see how that was beneficial.
question ... can i give jayden frozen veg? blended of course but just wondered? x

I would cook it first as it might be a bit hard :D

Frozen veg is just as good, if not better than fresh. With fresh veg, nutrients are lost in the process of farm, to shop, to home. With frozen the nutrients are frozen with the veg, so less is lost before you cook it.

Todays Charlotte-ism "Dad - it's naughty to balance calculators on dogs" :rotfl:
She actually was doing that today though!
Here I go again on my own....
