 at three times a day. Do they just expect anyone they're visiting to provide their daily cake requirement or is it just that you want to be nice? Do you mean they wouldn't bring anything even if you asked or just that they wouldn't think of bringing anything? If you are going to provide cake for them, I'd go for a fruit cake so that you don't have to take up freezer space.

    the expectation is like this,
    Us: cup of tea
    them: yeah, and cake?

they wouldn't think of bringing anything, but when fergus was 2 weeks old they came for a weekend. His mum said on the phone to DH do I need to bring anything? (we later discovered this meant 'or are all my towels and bedding provided) so he said, ' a packet of biscuits?' and she laughed at him and said, 'no I meant are you providing my laundry'

I said that at this point I'd have been saying, 'well no, if you can't even bring a packet of biscuits!' but he is like your OH is in a hospital situation always giving the other person the benefit of the doubt and pretty non-confrontational.

I just want to set fire to them!

edit, sorry super grump this morning, another 3 hrs sleep night. I will make a fruit cake and smile and be nice, I will I promise :)

  • Elle- thanks for that link. I may well go for that!

Weezl- list looks fine to me. I agree, we froze meals and just got OH/mum to pick up essentials.

Harley- I think if it's validated it is a sure thing. I love Quidco!

Sorry, I'm feeling blunt this morning.

I would ring and say that they are to bring everything they might want to eat (or use but that's cos I'm mean) since you don't know when baby will arrive, you have better things to do than pander to their foibles (sp?) and whilst they are at it you like Thorntons Chocolates.

You are providing them with another gorgeous grandson, the least they can do is show their appreciation.

    Did I say I was feeling blunt?:o

Weezlie, I'll send you my parents or IL's whom do you want? Both
were brilliant when Daniel was born, between them taking my washing, cooking us tea and doing the shopping for us, oh and walking Oscar too.

  • Morning all x

My little man is napping, he's full of a cold, both his eyes and nose are snotty and he is hating having them cleaned.

DH is coming down with something too, man flu I suspect :p So long as I don't catch it.

Sure Weezl, add him to my list.

Our HR lady is next for the blunt treatment. I was chatting to another mummy yesterday and she said all the things that I have thought about her. Tries to steal holiday off you, can't add up, doesn't know how to do her job, etc. So I'm totally reassured that I'm right and she is wrong.

I wrote out my leave entitlements for her so clearly and she still disagrees and has confused my direct boss with it all in the process.

    I detailed
xx days annual leave remaining 2009/2010
    xx days bank holiday
    xx weeks maternity leave
xx days annual leave taken from 10/11 entitlement

She calculates it from some chart and I ended up 3 days out of pocket. We are meeting on my first KIT day so she will be corrected then.

I just know that on my first full day away from Kezia I'm not likely to feel very tactful or diplomatic.

Anyone else need adding to my list? I like the idea of Thorntons bribes, who needs to be a size 8 anyway!!!!

sarah joanne when you're next on, a quick question, would this liner fit your pool?

Also would you mind letting me know the dimensions or posting a linkie to where you got it from?

    Many many thanks :)

That liner wouldn't fit I'm afraid, that's for a round pool and mine is oval.
Mine is the Birth Pool in A Box - regular size https://www.birthpoolinabox.co.uk/birth-pool-eco-regular

....and Glam, a quick question: also anyone who stockpiled food/batch cooked before baby came:

Do people think try to have loads of staple things bread/milk in the freezer plus cake for visitors, or is it more priority to have main meals made and frozen in the freezer.

    TIA :)

I made meals and it's been great. Bread and milk is easy to pick up either by you or by visitors. Couldn't hurt to have an emergency pint of milk in the freezer for teas but I didn't bother. As for cake for your ILs I just wouldn't bother! Harley has the right idea - tell them to bring some if they want some!
