Morning all,

Plans for a whole day to myself have completely been knocked on the head due to me falling back to sleep this morning - woke up at half six and was intending to get up but then fell asleep again until 11am All seems too much hassle to get Rhys to Mum's (where the dog is running riot chasing the bloke who's taking down a tree in their garden) for all of a few hours so decided he's staying here with me Did really want to get some stuff done but it'll have to wait Instead, FIL has been in touch and he's calling round later :cool:

Ya know, it dawned on me the other week that I didn't know how old you were. You're only nine months older than me but I thought it was more (on account of you having Charlie, I think). I am really struggling with the fact I'm 26 next week and don't feel in the slightest bit "grown up" I guess I have all the grown up things (baby, house, car, job etc etc) but just don't feel it.. :cool:

Does anyone know (or feel able to do a bit of geeky research for me) about iron levels for an 11-12 month old boy (susan, sami, SS? )

DH is worried about fergie making a switch to cow's milk until we know fergie has enough iron every day, and I can't wrap my brain round it!

What does he need daily as iron consumption and how far does a weetabix a day (cos they're iron fortified) go towards meeting it?

Weezl: According to the US, age 7-12 months need 11mg/day and 1-3 years need 7mg/day. (UK info is rubbish and undetailed so I have the US info in my nutrition file.)

Weezl a starting point it says on the asda wheat bisks box
"typical values per serving (37.5g with 150ml semi-skimmed milk) Iron 4.5mg (32.1% )RDA"
obv that is an adult RDA and Fergie would have full fat milk and prob only 1 bisk

I'm 73 and OH is 81 (yes I know we look fabulous for our age ) so you aren't the only one lol.. Do you ever ust hope he'll get wrinky and grey really young to make the age gap less obvious? pmsl

You used to be able to get Phenergan otc but they stopped it a few years back to stop people drugging their babies to sleep!

We were prescribed it for using on DS on the flight to go on holiday when he was a toddler. (His autism means the noise and strangeness of the plane would freak him out). He had a half dose before we went, slept all the way to Turkey, and for most of the next day. :eek: When he did briefly wake up his eyes looked all vacant like a druggy. We didn't use it on the way home, I preferred to cope with the freak out.

Thinking about it, i've no idea what we'd do now. There is no way I could carry a struggling 13 year old onto a plane!

Wow - you're doing really well for your ages.
I'm hoping i've got my Mums aging genes and he has his Mums. My mum is 10 years older than MIL but MIL isn't aging as well and looks older (meow!).


Talking of oldness. My Nan (Mums MIL) is in the process of moving from her sheltered flat 10 minutes away, to a sheltered flat at the bottom of my Mums road. She's got everything arranged to move this weekend, but the wardens of the new flat phoned my mum last night concerned about my nans state of mind! Apparently Nan has been told that the flat won't be ready until Mid-March and she can't move until then, but Nan is not taking this info in keeps phoning them insisting she's moving Friday.
The wardens of the flat she currently lives in phoned Mum this morning, she was down there last night shouting at them, and phoning head office to be nasty to them too - how the new flat not being ready is their fault I don't know!
Now, the wardens of the new flat have asked my Mum to arrange for Nan to see her Doctor, to be assessed on her mental health. The new flat won't take her if she's not mentally sound, and Mum is worried the Dr. might suggest she moves to a care home. I don't want to be the one to tell Nan that.
It's quite a worry - she's 83 (she thinks!) but has always been really young and active, but she's really gone down hill in the last 6 months.
She keeps moaning to people that she's only seen V 4 times since she was born. We visit at least once a week. *confused smiley*

LOL Tara! Does he do his GCSEs this year then? is he going/staying on to college?

Semi skimmed milk has around 0.03mg iron per 100g so the amount from the milk would be negligible making 1 bisk give about 2.2mg.

ETA: Whole milk is 0.04mg/100g.
