Not rude and better than my Dad saying 'Oh are you on the blob?' When I was a bit spotty and mardy
raincover arrived so off to play once I've changed Mr Stinky!
Thanks Jillie
As long as it's not disrespectful, that's okay, as girls are at an age where they may think i'm being meanI'll say you lot said it was okay
Even better, i'll just forget about it and continue to call it TOTM as it doesn't feel right. May try it on Lucy instead
See, told you boys were smelly
Have a nice day all. I shall come back for Searchie's news later, but have to go and get some work in process and paint the skirting boards before collecting girls from school :T0 -

When she described the headache last night, it started around her eye, and she was feeling like she needed to be sick. This morning she said it feels like someone has took her head off, and now there were kickboxers fighting in her brain!
I've had migraine for years, sounding exactly like her description (without the kickboxers), but i'm almost positive I didn't start them at 9?
3, I started getting migraines at age 8, went away at ... 13? or so... and we pretty much concluded they were a reaction to caffeine (even chocolate levels of caffeine) so I was off chocolate and coke and etc for several years there! Not a lot of fun.
I am heroically ignoring my sickness today as it is OH's birthdaytook Elijah to the pharmacy for his meds and via a little fancy shop for some birthday truffles and bath treats, and picked up the ingredients to allow me to wake her with fluffy pancakes, maple syrup and bacon
then in a bit my mum arrives to babysit while we go to fancy high tea at the Landmark Hotel (OH's choice of treat not mine! She loooooves posh teas and such).
It's a well-timed birthday as confirmation of annual bonus has just come so I feel happy frivolously spending money on her this week
I feel pretty grim after walking in the rain and dealing with wild baby all morning though, more heavy meds to come before our afternoon trip I think!
Lovely pic Feely and Ladybirdso sweet. Elijah pretty much never plays WITH other kids as such, need to get him started on it soon!

Sami I read it on here http://www.naturalmamas.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=39887
I joined when I was looking for a new sling, their quite pro BF/AP/EMC etc and when mardy bum wouldnt sleep last night I ended up reading most of the thread. Fritha's posted on it too IIRC.
Ive got a Streety travel system, its beyond awful and keeps collapsing on one side so hoping Boots will refund it as faulty but it means I need to buy a new pram and car seat. Ive decided shops should have various weight fake babies to put in prams when your trying them, their all easy with nothing in! (not sure if shops do this anyway but wherever I tried didnt) It was me who might have been coming but its a bit far on the bus with Isla. Ooh, but dont you have a Phil & Teds? Im tempted by a tandem double as my sisters due in 6 weeks so means I can have it as a singles for just Isla and doubles when I mind both babies.Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0 -

Not only did I complain, but I did it using my professional title. I'm utterly horrified by the whole biased piece.
I had dreadful stretchmarks that faded in colour but left little indented lines where they'd been, like little ditches around my navel.
I ordered OH a photobook of Molly's first six months, and it came today. It's amazing! Really gorgeous. I think I'm going to do a six-monthly one for her for the first year and then a yearly one, and the same for any future children.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Choppy - when you posted a pic of your pram a few days ago is it the M&P Skate? Im looking for a new pram already as I hate mine and thats one Ive been looking at, do you recommend it? TIA
Hi, yes it was. I'm really hesitant about recommending things in case people spend lots of money and hate what I've recommended
However, both DH and I love it! We've got the manderin one which is quite funky but OK for either sex (so we can use it if we have number 2 too!).
I wanted one where the carrycot bit is also the pushchair so we didn't have lots of pieces to store. It is really easy to push and we have the wheels on swivel unless going over gravel or in the snow. When it's in pushchair mode, you can choose to have baby facing towards you or facing away from you. You can also raise the pram up so baby is quite close to you.
I guess you already have a car seat but we bought the car seat and the Surefix base, which we don't regret at all. We only paid £60 for the base though, and it's now £85.
In honesty there are only two things that I'm not to keen on - the first is the net storage thingy on the. It apparently holds 5kg in weight but if you just put lots of light things on, the net doesn't go down (to make it like a basket) so it's a balance trick to try and get everything to stay on. It's fine for holding your nappy bag or something like that.
The second thing I'm not keen on is the apron. It's attached by two poppers at the bottom, a bit of elastic each side at the top and two magnets each side at the top. There is nothing down the sides. This is fine when it's in pram mode but in pushchair mode, Caitlin can kick and there is a huge gap between the pushchair and the apron so her legs get cold. However, I don't know if the apron is actually designed to be used in pushchair mode, perhaps not. Either way, you'll need a footmuff. We got one for £14.50 from John Lewis. It's not a perfect fit but does the job.
One other bit of advice - you'll need a fairly large boot. It won't fit in a Fiesta or a Polo. We've got a 307 and it fits fine in there with some room to spare, but not loads.
You've probably seen that it's half price at the moment. We paid £375 for ours (it was in the sale, but it wasn't a 50% off sale) excluding the car seat and car seat base and don't regret it. (Actually the ILs paid, but we would have paid it, and were expecting to pay for it).
Hope this helps a bit.
ETA: it's quite heavy to lift in and out of the car too. I'm not huge and I can manage it fine though.0 -
thank you everyone for support on my self indulgent post birth feeling pathetic whinge yesterday - I have just skimmed back, my god, you lot can talk! Not feeling much better today, infact thinking about things the last 36 hours or so is making feeling worse - probably not helped by Thomas screaming and whinging for most of those and also a routine trip to the hospital meant I had to pass the maternity unit, I stalled for a minute and thought about going in and asking to speak to someone but didn't. Think because I've met up with some new mums who seem to be coping so much better than me is not helping either. DP is saying we should cancel a night over at some friends we have planned for tomorrow so I can relax but I think it'll help me to see everyone. all this talk of af makes me wonder if I have pmt kicking in - although I was hoping exclusive bf and co-sleeping might have put pay to that for a bit longer!
and now to nice things - hows about a (south) London meet? I hope I got the bold in the right place  aless and jennynoo are up for it and others who we are sure are "local" are lou, Somnium, Mazcabs, Lil Miss 06, zgaze, Bruno and Claire. I remember other names from chats on the pregnancy thread I am sure. We could make it central London somewhere then it'll be easier for even more to meet - if you are daunted I managed the pushchair on the overground into Victoria a couple of weeks ago and while it took a bit longer to get to friends in covent garden as I had to use buses rather than the tube to avoid stairs it was actually a lot less stress than I imagined.0 -
Bruno, don't worry about El playing with others just yet. At baby group we have discussed play development and children don't usually play with others until 2ish. I have the different stages of play developemnt on a leaflet, I can post if people will find them useful.0

right you lot and your stretch mark free tummys can jolly well sod off
I'm not taking to you anymore
*storms off slamming every door I see*
Sami, if it makes you feel any better, while I've got no pregnancy stretch marks, I've got a very wiggly linea nigra (think thats what it's called?) - it was very faint and straight over the middle of my bump when pregnant but now it's all over the place if that makes you feel any better. Oh and (TMI ALERT!!) a couple of ingrowing hairs on my cs scar.0 -
I only just watched that GMTV clip about the BF-ing, and I didnt agree with anything either the midwife or the book writer said but I thought the mum came across well, which was lovely considering when they normally run these articles they tend to use complete hippies that come across totally insane :rotfl: IMO, they usually use rather odd people for these features which cant help people form opinions properly on the matter. They needed to use someone "normal" and they did, and she was the only one that came out of it with dignity IMO.
Also IMO, the book writer came across very obsessive about it all and reminded me of a woman I'd never met in my life that I served at work just before I left for maternity leave, who asked me mid-way through the sale if I was going to breastfeed because it was very important I should do so until the baby was at least a year old! I responded that I was having the baby adopted at birth so I didnt think breastfeeding was an option :rotfl:
Seth seems better today, has eaten porridge and two yogurts (and a couple of mouthfuls of my ricicles!) and has only had one poop, still runnier than normal but cant have been as bad as the last couple of days as the nappy contained it, hurrah!Mummy to
