Oh susan while you're here I found some stamps with pictures of Dogs and Cats on them if you're interested? There's 2 missing out of the book but those were just normal 1st class stamps. Anyway if you do want them let my fairies know x
Thank you - I'll PM the fairies some directions.

in ireland its hard to trace things as the govt building where records were kept was burnt down in 1920's (i think but early 20th century) and as most people never had their own copy of the birth/marriage/death or they are since lost/destroyed it can be tricky especially if there are grey areas with where they lived etc...
I guess that must've been in the civil war then? Must be very frustrating. I have a great grandfather who is impossible to get past because he came from South Africa and his parents came from India. His father was apparently a Hindu witch doctor but when they became Christians they were given a new surname by the church so we don't even know what their original surname was.

Does that mean there are people living who are unable to prove when they are born? I used to have a great great Uncle who didn't know what year he was born so wasn't sure exactly how old he was.

Does anyone have any ideas of cute cheapish things that can be done for anniversaries?

I got a text this morning from a friend to warn me my email fairies had emailed everyone in my contacts list at 3.20am! Not sure what it is, but i'm guessing clicking the link is a bad idea. I've just emailed everyone warning them. Does anyone with a Techi brain know How/Why? does this happen?
If you look in the headers of the e-mail, you can tell where it was sent from (i.e. whether it was sent from your computer). I had it happen to me ages ago after I'd used a public library and my brother looked on the headers and said someone in China had logged into my account to do it.
Without wishing to start a debate on early weaning, why is 17 weeks the generally accepted cut-off point for introducing solids? Is it to do with baby's digestive system being mature enough? I know the six months thing comes from the WHO.

Not planning on starting Henry just yet :p, just wondering really as we are being bombarded with weaning literature from baby food companies at the moment.
17 weeks comes from the WHO too - their advice is six months with the proviso that some babies need weaning sooner but not before 17 weeks. All these figures are approximates and a baby doesn't just suddenly wake up one day ready having been completely not ready the day before. Obviously weaning at one week would be ridiculous and harmful as would delaying weaning until age two. At some point between those two extremes the benefits of weaning start to outweigh any possible risks and presumably for a baby with no particular problems, the risks vs. benefits are considered acceptable from that point. Having said that, WHO advice (and I imagine UK advice) is also based on what they think people will actually do (hence the advice by the WHO to switch to cow's milk at nine months in the CAR) so they may be assuming that some people would start earlier and inflating their figure to take that into account.
Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.

Grrr... I'm fed up now. I want to go out - not even for anything much in particular, just want to get out on my own for a while. I suggested OH might paint so much of the room then take an hours break so I can get out and back while he watches Rhys, but he doesn't seem to see it that way  This is why I wanted to get up early, so I could get out and back before he started :(

On a semi-related note, god bless the person who invented the Jumperoo.. :o

My advice would be hold off the hassle for as long as possible :p
but not so long that you end up with an 8mth baby that won't eat :o
When I'm having a 'moment' I wish I had just FF Ed and given him mush at 6mths :shhh:

PP I feel for you honey xx

Just had the most hilarious 'lunch' EVER - well Jack's lunch!

Banana! He was shouting between each mouth for more - I couldn't get it in quick enough! Then he decided to try feeding himself, cue banana everywhere but he loved it so hey whats a bit of mess!

Yeah, I did think afterwards I should have put "(within reason!)" after that :o

We tried Rhys at 5mths actual age (3mths corrected) on instruction from the docs because of his earlier problems with feeding and that was far too early for him, he wasn't interested, neither were we really (:p) and it was just too much. He took to it much better at 8mths actual (6mths corrected) and it's been smooth sailing from there.

The early days of making sure he ate it (because that's what the docs wanted) and then trying to balance getting food into him as well as enough milk (not that you can tell with BFing so that's harder still!) was just pants! :o Now he's found his own way and still manages to get all the milk he should as well as mega amounts of mush!

That reminds me.. I've got broccoli icecubes to bag up.. *wanders off to kitchen*

from what I hear, he is normal for a blw'd baby, he puts things in his mouth and plays with stuff but almost never swallows anything.
I've tried him with spoons of baby porridge type things but he gets very angry at them :p
Its just me being selfish really (but I do think I deserve some time off) I was hoping by now I'd be able to leave him with family for more than an hour or 2.
also my fault because I didn't try him on bottles often enough either.

sorry bit of a ramble that goes nowhere

Well when Caitlyn gets a bit better I'm certainly going to make up for being at home now. I'm going to be rolling in at 2am, putting the telly on, scoffing crisps and leaving the empty packet on the sofa, flushing the toilet and coughing as loudly as I can
