Karen - I think men (generalisation here) tend to struggle when the baby cries and try to solve the 'problem' and food is the most obvious solution.
They don't have the same instincts we do when it comes to baby because they don't go through the same routines 24/7.
At least he is trying xxx
Is it any help to say in 15 years time if he goes to get food (choccie and cake) when DD is crying he will be doing the right thing
Not trying to cast aspersions on your parenting skills dads, I think sometimes it is only the 'full-time-carer' who knows what is going on because they are the ones who have been there all day IYSWIM. MILs do it too!!
3 - it made mebut I am brave-facing it.
My assistant split with her husband over the weekend so I am feeling quite grateful for my hubby, even if I can't see him at the moment.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

hi everyone,
quickly popping in and out today. my head is full of work/baby/marriage stuff but i have a question for you lovely lot.
i know a little while ago there was a discussion re cows milk and other mums saying that there was a time when cows milk was given at six months.
do we know why there was the change to 12months?
just going to have a quick nose over the thread

Karen - my OH & MIL is the same. Every cry is hunger - the boy would be the size of a house if I wasn't here!
Took J to the docs, not ear ache and his tummy is soft so either teeth or constipation even though he goes 3 times a day! When he does go the first is always really hard & yesterday was like rabbit droppings but loads!
Have bought the Aptamil comfort & gripe water and got some NFC OJ to see if that helps clear him out.
I'll not be around much either - MM going back to work has hit home how fast time has gone.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -

Dunno why it changed but I have been giving Benjamin a beaker of Cows Milk with his lunch and he likes it! Have given it in his TT sippy flip top cup straight from the fridge because the sooner he likes it like that the better as far as I am concerned.
Which reminds me - does anybody know why 17ml is marked on the side of the tt sippy cup? Is it because it is impossible to get that 17ml out of the damn thing? However hard he tries Benjamin can't seem to drink that last little bit!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Sorry, have only read the last two pages, haven't been on since friday afternoon.
Hope your hubby is getting better MFD. Hugs to Sami, who seems very subdued.
There also seems to have been many unsettled babies last night. Last night we had the worst night ever, i can just about cope with an hours screaming in the middle of the night. But unsettled, whinging and crying out all night, has seen me off. even brought Alex into our bed at 5am (something i never do, because i don't want him to get used to it). Thought i'd be a lovely partner and let OH share in the joys of the sleepless nights. It didn't help at all and we both look like zombies going off to work today.
Alex was burning hot, and paracetamol and nurofen didn't seem to help either. He has gone off to MILs this morning, having been told, that if they say he hasn't murmered all day again, he can pack his bags and go and live there. Because its just not on that he is the perfect baby at their house (or so they say) and mummy and daddy are living with a grump.
I see i must have much to read back on, and maybe a debate on BF/FF to stay away from, as it looks like i might explode.
Off out to pick up prescription for Alex during lunch, good luck, happy vibes to all who need them, expecially Tara, her DD and DGD0 -
MFD - Lol for Benjamin and hugs for OH
Thanks 3, MFD, SS, Glam that makes me feel better. SS - I'll try what you say and will stop whinging about it nowTegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

i have given LO sips here and there because i do not want to be faffing about with the mixing of a small amount with formual etc.
i am just wondering about starting her on more now to see if it will help with her eating (my own strange reasoning)
is your marking the juice marking? ours has a marking on it (though not sure if it's 17ml) which is where to put the juice/squash and the rest water.well that is if you follow their measurements. LO can never get that last bit out, unless she's splashing the cup about of course0 -

She is 1 in a month or so, I wouldn't swap Benjamin completely yet but I am happy for him to drink moo milk now.
