Isnt it full fat until they are 2 yrs old?A thread that started off as a rant about the cost of forumla being hiked up has turned into the usual BF V FF debate. I just posted this with you & Sami in mind

Oh tara - I can feel that you are so much more upbeat from the black and white of your typing
Glad things are looking up xxx
I think a few tiny sucks. She was already crying though, so not the best time to be shoving a stange teat into her mouth. At one point i thought she was going to take to it but she screamed at me. Anyway i didn't persist too long, just gave her the breast which she promptly and vocally om-nom-nom'd and now after all that screaming, she's sleeping.
I hope i haven't left it too long to introduce a bottle? I keep reading stuff where it says to do it in the first few weeks, and she's now 7 weeks. Which are the teats that mimic the breast flow?
Not at all. Keep at it, but do it when she is calm and not too hungry. We had a bit of a struggle to start with but it was worth it in the end.
If it is a carton I would stick the bottle in the fridge and try again tomorrow but I am sure that you are not supposed to do that
If she likes the bottle maybe you could think of expressing occasionally? I used to do it every night whilst chatting on here xx
We used to use formula sometimes too, cos I is a bad mum innitA thread that started off as a rant about the cost of forumla being hiked up has turned into the usual BF V FF debate. I just posted this with you & Sami in mind

Even the most ardent BFers apparently consider a nighttime formula feed for the sake of some peace and quiet when it all seems to be getting too much.
LOL - I nearly referred to that (and the many posts in the PT) in my reply. What a short memory.
Don't get me wrong - I am sure I was panicking about stuff in the early days that I now tell people is a breeze but I try not to preach

Formula from a carton can be stored in the fridge for 24 hrs (runs away to check) if its still in the carton but once in the bottle its use within 2 hours same as formula powder....Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
Great news Tara!!!!
Beenie, we gave a formula feed at 8pm from about 8 weeks. I tried to express instead, then got lazy and stopped so there wasn't a lot of milk at that time from then on. She took tommee tippee closer to nature bottles, rejected avent, couldn't get milk out the breastflow (but I think it was a faulty one tbh). Before that she was getting the skinny teats with EBM.
Let her latch onto the teat as you would when BF, I expressed my milk onto the teat to trick her a few times, and held the bottle close to me all to mimic BF. Stick to slow flow teats too.
Annd yes, it did work for us.
ETA, she point bank refused cartons because it was thicker plus it made her sick. The powder is thinner.0 -
Tara I don't think SB will like the choice of name :rotfl::rotfl::DEveryone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070
