Choppy - I had cooked a huge pot of chilli and had chopped up a load of veg for a casserole - I was putting the chilli in the freezer whilst in labour and the veg went off. :rotfl: A huge twin pack of mince also went off cos I never got round to cooking it and the chicken breasts were frozen as they were so needed cooking into a full meal when defrosted! Not what you want when you have a newborn baby. Although I've cooked EVERY night since I came out of hospital!

I think that you've more than made up for a few things having to get thrown away! I also think that BIL of yours should treat you to a takeaway every now and then (or cooks for you, although depending on what kind of cook he is, you might not want that!)
That sounds like me! I had to stop taking the pill due to BP and never got on with the POP so just stopped taking it in the end.

Chopsticks- I thought I was the only one with a Grandad who goes trout fishing- he'll be 88 this year . Very :money:though as he gives his catches away- not to me though as he still thinks I'm too much of a little girl to actually cook anything! Maybe I should get him to send one Weezl's way!
He's beating my Grandad - he'll "only" be 82 this year!! I don't think I've ever eaten trout before either. I'll have to get another one from him this year!

I've just been reading the box of the pot of baby food Rhys had for tea tonight - Plum Spinach, Salmon and Parsnip along with three cubes of homemade creamy mash. The box says "more calories for your growing baby" (ad-lib-ing but that's the jist), and it's only got 61kcals in it. There are 65kcals in a custard cream biscuit!! Is 61kcals really a lot of calories for a baby food? *confused* How many should a normal baby be having in a day?

    hi everyone,

elle - i know a HV said to me that 'bought' baby food isn't very high in calories at a time when we were discussing LO's sleeping and the fact that she probably wasn't filling up enough during the day/evening. if i was using plum/ella's kitchen/jars, i used to add in cheese when i heated it to bulk up the calories.

i am not sure what amount they should have, but i just used to try 'fattening' it up with cheese or whatever else seemed to go.

i've only read this page so i am going back to read some more.

SusanC about stamps..i think i still have some envelopes kicking about with stamps on the from Oz. you are more than welcome to them if you like.

off to catch up and do some farming :D

We're in the condom club too, but when I was in hospital after having H the consultant told me I should see my GP about getting some other contraception as condoms don't work . He told me that his daughter was conceived when they were using condoms....lovely :rotfl:. We've never had a problem though!
I can't remember what the actual figures are but the "real" use failure rate is probably influenced by the fact that teenagers and people not in a long term relationship are more likely to use them and condoms work best in the context of a long term relationship.

    Yes, Glam :)

Oh oh.. muchos happy :D I PMed a poster from the OS board earlier today because she'd mentioned making apple scone - I used to make it at school (food tech) but I've lost the recipe. She's just sent me hers and it sounds like the exact one I used to have :D Will have to get the ingredients tomorrow. Healthy cake - yes? ;)

    ETA:
AF, he did have three cubes of mashed potato with double cream, cheese and butter added in ;) Normally, he had all homemade mashed veggies (some have cream in too) with some chicken or beef, but I bought those to try him on new flavours before I spent time/money/effort buying and making from scratch - plus it's Friday so he's allowed a "ready meal" ;) (we had chippy tea). I've got to make up some more veggies this weekend so going to get some more meat and white fish and make up something different. Will be the first time I've made a mix of mush then frozen it - always been a selection of mush cubes of one flavour each, iyswim :)

    ETA again:
Caz, I'd be sat feeding him in A&E and let them see him in action and clean up after him if it were me.. *hugs* for you and your sis xx
  • Please, please, please share the recipe Elle :D!

Glam - you putting Jack in his cot/own room tonight? We starting with C on Sunday night (cos OH on lates next week and doesn't have to get up early - he up early at weekends for golf).

Anyone any tips for movin LO to own room? I'm dreading it. She moves right to the edge of her crib and sticks her arm through the bars to be near me at the mo (when she not in bed with me) and just thinking of her being alone makes me want to cry. Gonna give her the same bedding/sleeping bag and teddy. Any other helpful tips?

    Thanks

Oh NMS - we went swimming today. C loved it but had had enough after 45 mins so we got out. She was asleep before we got to the car in my arms - it's unheard of!!!

    Hugs to all xxx

Sure was Glam! They seem very efficient so far, can't yet comment on how good their investment decisions are though!

I agree with GISI. I signed up (finally!) with them last Friday and received the welcome pack today.
  • Jam - the first time I took Katie swimming we did half an hour and she was asleep before I finished dressing her!

theres lifts in the tubes so you'll be fine .. i used to live in london and go a fair few times a year to take zoe to see her aunt x

Not all the stations have lifts so we may have to be careful where we meet - unless some nice city gents help us up the stairs
