Was thinking along those lines, hate to cause bad feeling as I really like them as people, wonder why they have moved so often though. Get the impression they haven't manage to settle anywhere. They have moved Parishes 3 times in 6yrs which is an awful lot with 2 kids in tow.Too many children, too little time!!!0

Hugs Tara not sure what is going on with your Vicar, but I would find it a bit much too.
Did he give any reasons why he doesn't agree with Christenings?
I'd be telling him it's not his decision about whether DD is christened or not, she yours and you want her Christened but obviously not quite so bluntly.
I also agree with the suggestions above.
Probably moved so much because they impose their views rather than listening to what the congregation wants.Proud to be dealing with my debts

I agree with this Tara, thats quite bad! Imagine not doing christenings?! thats crazy.
I'll have to love yous and leave yous, IL's are here!0 -
Tara it's not surprising that they're not settling if he's merrily imposing his own ideas on his parishioners.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

We have just had the Parish Magazine delivered, will se if I can copy and paste if it's online!
Not online yet, but what he's written adds to what I've said, about how he thinks people need to change their way of seeing the church!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
what type of vicar 'doesnt do christenings' ?
to have moved parishes 3 times in 6 years does seem quite extreme. most are in a parish for several years.
is it the christening that is upsetting you most or that he wont marry you and have the christening on the same day?'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
I think it's the christening that is really bothering me.Too many children, too little time!!!0

Tara - it's like he's not allowing her to be welcomed into the family - which is the point IYKWIM
I would definitely speak to the Dean and express your concerns.Proud to be dealing with my debts

I am OTT sentimental. I have, and will be, keeping everything for Caitlin.
Tia - well done to sitting up!!
Button - Yay to Keira for eating the spaghetti
SM - nearly all the food you mention on here sounds delish, then you mention something weird like cheese, PB and salad cream sandwich and it sounds gross. I used to eat salad cream and brown sugar on melon then one day it made me feel sick. It was abuot 5 years before I could face eating melon again.
Caz - well done Erin!
MM - enjoy your last week of work.
Happy birthday Hammy! What a clever little boy you have
Glam - I stir a bit of baby rice in anything that looks a bit runny.
Another one for cheapy preg tests here - 2 for 99p in Savers!
Congratulations three2be.
CSH - love the photo! His face is a picture!
Tara - I'm not writing as much as I would normally as I've got a baby in one arm, but I agree with the others. What kind of vicar won't conduct a Christening? Not a very good one IMO. The purpose of a Christening is to welcome the person/baby into God's family and he's refusing to do this?!? I would speak to the Dean and she what s/he suggests. Alternatively, is there another Church nearby that would be more accommodating? The Dean may be able to advise on this. I also don't get his point about being dishonest. You're not lying to people to get them there. You're just giving them a surprise. And, I can't believe any guest present would think "OMG Tara has been dishonest".0 -
[STRIKE]
Talking of Christenings, Caitlin's is five weeks today and I've barely done anything. I've ordered a gown, cardigan and shoes and written a list of food for the buffet.
Any ideas for cheap but nice table and room decorations?
[/STRIKE]
Scrap that.
Tara, I've just realised how insensitive my question was. I didn't mean to be, it's just the talk of Christenings reminded me. Sorry0
