I don't want him to eat the processed crap I eat! :rotfl: Must start eating better sometime very soon! :o

He's okay with petit pois and sweetcorn sized bits now, and had bits of chicken slightly bigger than that yesterday but wasn't too sure of it. I'm thinking about the sweet potato and butternut squash - do I carry on mashing that or cut it into smaller bits? It's not helped by the fact we have to boil it for ages to get the bad-for-kidneys things out of it too so it's very soft and easy to mash

Just stop giving him sweet potato and butternut squash *shrugs shoulders*

If you don't eat it...why bother giving it :o It serves a purpose as a good weaning food but I dropped it as soon as Benjamin started eating properly. We will have sweet potato once in a while but I wouldn't buy it just for Benjamin any more (although I don't much shop specifically for Benjamin any more, other than to make sure we have lots of fruit in!).

But then we eat quite healthily most of the time (honest guv!!) lots of fresh fruit and veg at least!

Hi All, I'm back what did I miss?

MFD, won't you be giving Benjamin cows milk by then? I took a bottle through customs (coming back) they didn't make me taste it. Be prepared to practically strip off though, we had to empty our pockets, fold the pushchair, take watches/belts off, shoes off and be patted down all whilst holding Ello and reassuring Millie that it was OK, (OH was nowhere to be seen, he always bleeps at security plus tattoos and piercing seem to get customs guys all excited) so I had the kids on my own at that point.

I intend to swap him onto cows milk, he has some now (although never in a bottle). But I thought that milk in Tenerife probably won't taste the same as over here so was going to use formula until we get back. At least that way it will taste roughly the same (made with bottled water).

I missed you!! Why didn't I know you were going? Am I just shoite?

Tia, nope, he seems to completely avoid feeding himself  He'll happily eat anything if I hold it for him but doesn't want to hold it himself. Same with his sippy cup - drinks out of it fine but won't hold it himself. He'll put toys, clothes, my hands, his hands to his mouth and chew on them no problem, just not food - it's like he doesn't realise he's allowed (polite before his time, that's his trouble! :p).

We seem to have gone through a lot of different brands and age ranges to be able to find anything with any lumps in it. Two out of three 10mth Plum pots barely had any lumps in and were just the same consistency as the mash I made him. At least tonights Hipp 10mth jar has something recognisable in it!

ETA: No, he's not allowed it roasted (potassium and phosphates are water soluble so have to boil it in water to get those out of it - so says the dietitian and kidney doc) :)

Weird, I thought that cows milk would most likely taste the same whether it came from spanish cows or english? Would formula taste different depending on the different water its made up with?

Ello has been on cows milk since I stopped BFing anyway so wasn't something I had to think about.

I said I was off on holiday, don't know if I said when though.

LOL - because I never bother with a plate or bowl for Benjamin he giggles like a schoolgirl if I give him a bowl of fruit and won't take a piece!! He looks at me like I am going to tell him off and giggles :rotfl:

I have to tip it out of the bowl onto the tray of his antilop and then he grabs hold and devours it!!

Am working on that one

MM - do they process the cows milk the same? I dunno - I just always think when you have a cup of tea abroad it tastes wrong!!! Could be the milk, could be the water?

    Evening all,

Must have been a day for arguing with OHs!

SJ - welcome to married life. You have probably described all of our husbands. I ask mine to do something, and he says he will. 3 hours later, still not done, so I remind him politely. Pattern repeats until I get accused of nagging. If he did it when I asked, then there would be no need to nag!!!! I have already said he is getting a to do list in future. Might steal your idea Csh and put timeframes on it!

I should have multiquoted as I can't remember anything now.

Oh yes, Happy Birthday WM and Happy Anniversary SS and Mr SS (even though you have been bad).

Csh - you are quick off the mark!! I had only just posted the photos ha ha. Love the new avvy by the way. I spy Sophie!

H seemed to get on ok with the baby rice (which she had for dinner rather than lunch due to afore mentioned argument!) She also napped in her cotbed today twice for the first time - bit of a pain though as I had to clear the cot top changer but still room to leave it on.

Oh yes, JM - what kind of car do you have? The window thing has happened to me twice and apparently is a known fault on my Megane, but Renault won't admit it. It costs about £300 to get a new part and have it fitted. OH did it himself in the end and bought a part from Ebay, but it was a horrendous job. Also, he bought a left sided part, but it was a right sided part they sent, so my window works in reverse now. It goes up instead of down etc! It happened again on Hogmanay to the drivers window and we had to drive home in the freezing cold snow/wind on the motorway, trying to keep poor Holly from getting blasted with cold air in the back!

Elle, the fruit or sweet ones tend to be a smooth puree regardless and the savories have lumps.

Don't sweat it, he will eat himself when he feels like it. In the grand scheme of Rhysness, it's really no big deal.

My gosh, I can hear my BIL screechin through DH's xbox headset! He sounds like a banshee!
  • MFD, are you taking a tin of formula? If not unless they have the same formula over there, he's going to have to deal with it tasting different anyway isn't he?

    :rotfl::rotfl: How very true! *rolleyes*

He doesn't have anything sweet from a jar - won't eat it cos it's too thin, dribbles down his chin! I had to stir the remainder of the mango rice pudding we had into his weetabix. We currently have apple, pear, peach and plum lumpy mush cubes in the freezer which he only really has with weetabix or porridge, plus an apple one with his teatime veggies (has veggies and something meaty for supper) :) We don't do puddings here cos he won't drink his milk too if we do
