Avoid the Quality Hotel in Llanberris. It is absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and we went there for our anniversary which made it doubly annoying.

We love holidaying in North Wales - our favourites have to be, Harlech Castle (lovely beaches there too), Barmouth - quaint little seaside town on west coast - you can catch aboat over the estuary to fairbourne, Bala lake - lots of watersports and walking etc. I notice that another poster has mentioned the Llyn penisular - if you go to abardaron which is the last village at the end of the penisula, then you will be able to go to a beach called 'whistling sands' - the bay is situated as such that you can hear whistling whilst you are there - lovely clean sand and clear sea - lovely! Enjoy - wish I was there!

When we go we saty in a friend's caravan at tal-y-bont. If you fancy camping there are loads of campsites around in some great locations.

    National Slate Museum, Llanberis

Great museum and it is FREE

Note that Portmerion and the Welsh Mountain Zoo both take tesco days out vouchers for the entrance fee.
  • Hi, I too am going (god willing) to Anglesey, setting off tomorrow, and coming back Thursday night.

My plan is to tour the island, spending a day each at Holy Island, Newborough, and Benllech and surrounding areas.

How does that sound? I have recently had an operation so won't be able to do anything energetic but just going for the views and sea air!
