Tried to book 11 days hire in Detroit BUT the AWD codes appear no to work :-(

I just did a quick comparison using all 3 codes, D005291 D005297 D005298 All of which worked, and gave the same price. For 2 weeks in Portugal in September:
For a Group G (Opel Vectra 1.9 or similar) + extra driver
without code pay now £559.47
pay later £615.47
with code pay now £342.71
pay later £376.31
Looks like a bargain to me0 -
Hi,
Just about to use this code for Avis (Faro Airport) car rental. I have read through the thread and a bit confused. Can someone please clarify:
Does the AWD code mean i will need to arrange my own insurance in Portugal?
Are there any other liability fees which increase by including the AWD discount?
Thanks.Filiss0 -
Hi,
Another question.....is the NON WAIVABLE EXCESS LIABILITY for AVIS quite high eg roughly 1000 EUROS. I have also checked Argus rental who appear to be quite cheap and from what i can see there NON WAIVER is 100 EUROS. A
Any thoughts?Filiss0 -
Yes. I think I need this insurance thingy clarifying too before I go ahead & book. Can anyone help please ????0

As I said on the first page of this thread
the excess is £600 unless you pay an extra fee and then there is still a £100 excess.
Maybe better to find another (more expensive) car hire firm but with lower or no excess.

Hi,
I have checked Argus Rentals and they state the following:
Deductible / Excess amounts
CDW – Collision Damage Waiver and TP - Theft Protection reduces the renter's financial responsibility to the sum of the deductible.
Group: CDW and TP Deductible amount (EUR):
EDMN, EDMR, CDMR - 100.00
CWMR - 150.00
IXMR - 200.00
PVMR, SVMN, FWMR - 500.00
I am going for a car in the CDMR category. Does this mean my excess will only be 100 Euros??Filiss0 -
Hi, is this code valid for UK rental?
Many thanks

Can anyone tell me where these codes originated from in case I get quizzed on arrival (Avis are v.expensive if I get hit with a full payment).
Probably being a bit parsanoid buy after being accused of trying to con Hertz when I had used a code that I had been sent by my credit card company I'm a bit wary about using codes that have no explanation.0
