If I thought you wanted it left curved, then yes would suggest flexi bead.

Plasterer quick question for you, sorry to jump on thread

I am going to put some rockwool insulation in a intregal garage soon and to hold it in place between the rafters I may use plasterboard.

Now bare in mind its a ceiling in a garage roof is flat with EPDM roofing, do I use nails or screws?

    Thanks for help

Use 12.5mm plasterboard and 25 mm Drywall screws, Put a pencil mark down your boards where the rafters will be so you don't miss. You can get a bit for the end of your drill form any DIY store about £3 - simply attach to drill and screw to board (The bit guages the exact depth the screw should go) However, if you want to save £3 put the screws in slowly and when the screw head only just countersinks WITHOUT PIERCING THE PAPER then thats it. Screw approx every 300mm apart - dont measure, just roughly. I never use nails on ceilings, on the occasional wall I will If I've got no screws.
    Hopr this helps

we dont have any other DIY sheds where I live other than builders merchants

Its just for a garage so doesn't have to be brilliant finish

If your not skimming plaster onto it get TAPERED EDGE boards, when you put them up you simply tape along where the boards meet and joint with compound, then cover the screws over with same compound - Very simple job. When dry, sand off any high points and paint. It'll look sound.

whoever original plastered it hasnt used angle bead and had got a good finish, apart from the slight curve! It is a 200 year old cottage so i just call the curve character.

2oo years old? The original plaster will be lime - are you using lime plaster or new plaster ie Multifinish/boardfinish?

The dormer window isnt 200 years old, they are new parts of the cottage
  • angle beads were not really around when your house was done. It was mostly done free hand or using a piece of wood to butt up too. if you need to make a curve, use some flimsy hard board, and make a template. use that to plaster too, and take off when dry.
