Trying for a Baby part 5....

Hi ladies, hope you're all enjoying the long weekend? It's a glorious 24 degrees here in Sydney so I'm off to the pool for a few laps in a mo... No long weekend for us though...
I have a question... To improve TTC chances, how regular do your cycles have to be? And should your luteal phase be the same length each month? Or does it not matter as long as you are aware of when you OV?
My last few cycles have been 28, 31, 34, 31, 30, 32, 28 days and now I'm on CD 31. I've not taking temps for all of those cycles, but when I have, FF suggests that ovulation is around day 19, and then AF seems to pop up 12 days after. Following that pattern for this month would suggest that I'm due on today but apart from sore boobies, no other inkling of AF.
So anyway, I guess I was wondering how consistent your cycles need to be in order to be considered "regular"?
As I've mentioned before, I'm waiting until later this year to start TTC, so trying to get as sorted as poss beforehand!
Thanks, BM0 -

Going on hol sat for a week. Should be due to ov towards the end of the hol. Going the chav route this month, lots of alcohol and plenty of bding!
TAN - Sending you huge hugs and wishing you all the best xxx0 -
GTS - sorry AF got you. Like your approach for this cycle - go for it!
TAN - hugs, you will get there.
Not much happening for me, just waiting for AF to show which should be in next few days.
Hugs and sticky baby dust to all x0 -
hi bluemonkey, I wouldn't get too hung up on your cycle lengths changing a few days here and there. As I understand it, the first part of the cycle leading up to ov, ie the build up of hormones to allow egg release, can differ each month but your luteal phase is usually pretty fixed.
Are you monitoring your ov as this is the important bit for TTC.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Hi again!
Well..... after my first post on here, a week or so ago, I thought I'd let you know that yesterday I got a bfp at CD21!
Very excited, scared, shocked, happy and nervous all rolled into one!

Congrats chasingsunshine. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy
GTS - Sorry AF got you. At least she will have cleared off by the time you go on your hols
TAN - Sorry to see you go. Wishing you all the best and hope you find the OH of your dreams soon x
CD10 for me and got my first high :j Can I ask the fellow CBFM'ers how many high days you usually get before peak?
Hugs and sticky baby dust to all x0 -
Afternoon everyone...what a lot of rain we've had today! Still at least it's good for the garden
Sammy - exciting when you get your first high/peak on the CBFM! :T
I had 3 high days in total (CD's 9, 10 and 11) and then 2 peaks on CD 12 and 13.
I was quite pleased with that as I've read a lot that in your first month of using it, it's effectively 'learning' your cycle and it can give you a lot of high days and sometimes no peaks.
For me it looks like it's kind of got the hang of my cycle already IYKWIM. We BD's on CD10 (2nd high), CD12(1st peak) and CD14(High).
I really wish we'd managed to hit my 2nd peak, but it just wasnt going to happen! Fingers crossed we did enough, but I'm not feeling too confident.
Big congrats CS. That was quick! Happy and healthy 8 months to you
GTS - sorry the witch got you, but lots of fun on holiday sounds awesome!..enjoy it while you can!
Blue Monkey...jealous of your lovely weather! It's chucking it down in grey old South London! My cycle lengths have a tendancy to be all over the place, anything between 26 and 31 days, and we managed to get preg last year, so it shouldn't make too much difference. The CBFM makes pinpointing ov a whole lot easier anywayMetranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Thanks MV
Were your peak days the same as what you thought they would be? For example, I always take CD13 as my ov day (based on my 27 day cycle length). So I would be interested to see what peak days my CBFM give me. If any lol!
Weather's awful isn't it??Ive put the heat back on its so bloomin cold.
Oh and my friend brought her baby to church this morning, and I got loads of baby cuddlesMade me even more broody!!!!

My peak days happened a bit earlier than I'd have predicted. Having used OPK's the last few months, I would normally have only started testing around CD 13.
Interestingly though, the day of my first peak, I had a spare OPK stick in the bathroom so I decided to POAS, and the line was there but not very dark..which was odd. So if I'd be relying on the OPK stick, we probably wouldnt have BD'd necessarily that day.
Time will tell, but I'm happy to rely on the monitor rather than the OPK's as I find the whole comparing lines thing a bit of a pain.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
