@sammy - sorry about the browny tinge CM. This would be a sure sign that AF was imminent for me. Sorry about the dodgy test too, I know if it was me I would have got so excited. Are you going to take another test or wait to see if AF shows? //edit - sorry sammy - cross posted

I'm CD32 - officially my longest cycle in existence I think. Only an hour and half till midday, so unless I come on by then I'll be be another CD gone (CD1 starts if you come on before midday, right? Otherwise CD1 is the following day).

I'm not sure what my body is doing. Maybe I'm more stressed/worked up than I realise and this has had an affect on my cycle?

Yesterday I had period pains nearly all day (not so bad that I needed pills though). And today so far I've had no pains. I suppose it could be the wheat free diet that's affecting things too.

Sammy, Just a thought but do they have a helpline number? Give them a ring for advice. If they say the test is duff insist on getting a new one! Those tests are not cheap and it is MSE afterall :cool:

Ooh, I haven't heard that one before. I just count each CD as a new one evry morning. If AF comes full flow I count it as CD1 regardless of the time of day she appears.

Sorry about your cycle. It's so frustrating isn't it??

Sammy, why not do another test? Also, have you tried dismantling the hpt to have a look at the other side of the strip? Not that it'll reveal anything.

Just had a quick gander through from sat posts to see whats Fuzz's update was massive congratulations to you bet you are over the moon. Im sooo pleased for you. We wont be far apart then with dates Im not sure at all when I OV but by last period we are due 15/10/10 so 7+2 today and its my birthday too yayyyyy. Sorry if Ive missed any others at mo will have a proper look later on tonight but going out now to parents for bday meal.

I've never really bothered looking at CM, but having read so much about it on here, and how it changes near ov, I've taken a bit more notice!

My CM appears to have a stretchy texture (sorry if tmi!), I'm on CD 12, and was planning to start ov testing tomorrow. Would the stretchy CM indicate also that I am about to ov??

Anyway, from a lay man point of view (ie me - who needs to have things explained to me like I'm a 3 year old), let me explain. Cervical Mucus (CM) is the vaginal discharge that we lucky ladies get that spoils our nice panties (or is that just me?). Before ttc you don't really take much notice what form it takes. When you start ttc and become more aware of what your body is doing, then you notice the changes. CM can come in different forms - thick and creamy, watery, slippery (but not stretchy) and EWCM (Egg White Cervical Mucus). Now, EWCM is what you are looking for as this is a sign that you are ovulating. Your body produces EWCM as it is a vehicle used to carry the sperm to meet the egg. So EWCM is good.

Now, why is it called EWCM? If you took a raw egg out of your fridge and cracked it open into a bowl, there would be 2 parts to the egg - the yellow yolk and the egg white (the clear stretchy stuff). This is why the CM that comes out of our wanny is called EWCM, because if you put it between your fingers, it is clear and quite thick and stretchy just like the raw egg white.

So basically, it doesn't matter how you like your eggs in the morning, when we say EWCM we mean the above.

Ive done a bit of a waffly explanation, I hope that helps. We're all here to learn. I wouldn't know half the stuff I know if it wasnt for the ladies on this thread.
