What's the best way to get to the hotel on a Friday evening? Flight lands at Newark at 6pm.
Are there shuttle buses that do hotel drop offs or something similar? Don't fancy paying $100 for a taxi.
Thanks again.....0 -

If your hotel is on Manhattan take the train from Newark Liberty to Penn Station which is directly under Madison Square Garden (if you can manage the luggage). If you're feeling particularly strong & brave you could then see about getting the subway to your hotel, but not really recommended at that time as it'll be very busy! From that point on though the taxi may not be anywhere near as expensive, the problem with Newark being that incurs a levy for being "out of town" as well as you getting hit with tolls as well.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
The hotel website says it's only a few blocks from Penn Station, so i'm sure we can manage the walk - thank you !0

Google maps is very much your friend. Know where you want to go and plan it!
The hop on hop off yellow river taxis at $35 a go are a good way to spend half a day getting to see the 911 site, Statue of Liberty (from close up, but not on the island), Wall St and Brooklyn Bridge while getting a guided tour. Might be nippy in December.0 -

You can easily walk from Penn Station to your hotel. Take the 7th Avenue exits from Penn (ideally 33rd St, but 34th is not much further), it's just a few blocks. You may have to lug cases up some stairs at Penn, not all platforms have escalators in convenient places.
To get to Penn from EWR airport, take the Airtrain and connect to NJ Transit or Amtrak at Newark Liberty Station.

Look into it. My friends who live in NYC recommend it, rather than puffing about on buses and trains after a long flight.0 -
After booking this time last year, our holiday is now only 30 days away! eep! Just had an email today confirming we have a Big Apple Greater on our 2nd day too. Excited is not the word now!0

But after a long flight the last thing i would want to do is sit on a mini bus for ages as you could potentially be the last person dropped off.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
