going to NYC in october and have been trying to find reasonable priced hotels, manhatten is more than i would like to pay but stopping in an area 15-20mins subway ride does not really appeal to me.
i have been looking at priceline and it seems hotels in hells kitchen area can be had for a decent price.
has anyone stopped in hells kitchen area that can advise me on what it is like??0 -
Never stopped there personally, but I would check the reviews on trip advisor as they will usually give you a good indication of the area.
How much do you have to spend and when are you going?
Have you entered your details in skyscanner? that will check a load of websites for you quickly xx0 -

There are bargains to be had in Manhattan and sometimes the hotels outside the city are just as expensive!
Do check out the various screenscrapers for hotels and if you really want to book this early, make sure you book something that you can cancel in case you find a bargain hotel cheaper, closer to the time.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

hells kitchen area is IN Manhattan about 10/15 minutes walk from Times Square. A little run down and very busy with cars also not much to see there but close to centre(center) and easy to get to most areas . what hotel do you have in mind because hells kitchen changes the closer to Linclon Expressway
Try having a butchers at google street view and see for yourself its not awe inspiring but does house some decent hotels and foodies:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Thanks for replies,I do not have any hotel names as I would only get that info if and when I book and pay on priceline.
So it is a good idea to look elsewhere and leave it until closer the time to get best deals?0 -

sometimes but as most things the less you pay the less choice you have .Then dont shout about how bad it was .
Getting the balance right between where you want to go when you want to go and how much you want to pay is difficult .
IMO I find where i want to go then try my best to get it at the best price possible. If i cannot get it within my budget i walk away then try my next best choice . Chase bargains or sign up to emails from hotels or chains they often send out teasers (stay 3 pay for 2 etc)Go onto trip advisor list order by price first then scroll down until you find a hotel ranked say under #100 then reserch it. Good luck HTH:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
