Thanks M for your help it has been invaluable.

I am looking to do what you suggested and look for flights nearer the time, hopefully they'll be a lot cheaper! Regarding hotels again been looking on the website you suggested (Quikbook) and the hotel that scores relatively ok on reviews, price and location is the Comfort Inn Times Square
129 West 46th St Btwn 6th & 7th Avenue New York, NY 10036- I might book and can cancel beforehand at no cost.

    Thanks again for your time.:)

Also, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on hiring a car / getting a train and popping out of the city somewhere for the day? As I haven't booked any hotels yet I could even book a night mid-trip elsewhere ... any recommendations?
You really really don't want to hire a car with a view to driving within NYC.

We went to North White Plains on the train, where the Hertz depot is closer to the station than many UK station taxi ranks. That gave us a chance to get used to driving on the wrong side in a less frenetic environment. We drove down to Wildwood for a few nights, then straight back to JFK airport. That bit was OK as you sort of skirt the mad bits of NYC ...

    Hi All,

Is this true? If I wait longer will I get a better deal? If not, it's back to the brand new hotel M suggested ;)

Have been reading though some of the posts, there are so many, my question may have already been answered sorry if it already has.

I am flying out to New York on Friday with my sister both of us on our second trip :j an we really want to see a broadway show not set on a certain show have a few in mind.
But just wanted to know how is the cheapest way to book tickets once out in nyc?

Have read about rush tickets on a few web sites but not either one of us is a student?

Any help would be great thanks.

New York TKTS offices are a good idea if you dont mind what and when. you want to see . The queues are less at the south seaport tkts box office hope this helps

    For theatre tickets I use:

    broadwaybox.com

That way you've got the tickets in your hand before you leave the UK and you are'nt wasting valuable time in NYC queueing up for tickets, which by the time you get to the front of the q may have sold out anyway

    Hi All,

Well, I still haven't booked my hotel yet! Mainly because I've been obsessed with the "Earn £11k in 2011" board so all my spare time has been taken up with eBay sales! :D

I've been catching up on the posts and saw someone is travelling at the same time as me (end of April) and asked when late availability of hotels at that time will be out.

Is this true? If I wait longer will I get a better deal? If not, it's back to the brand new hotel M suggested ;)

The Mondrian? That is a special rate, so if it's available, book it. It is fully cancellable, but you're looking at a luxury hotel that's just opened, so might be the only chance that it is affordable. Normal rates are going to be in excess of $400 a night
  • Many thanks green face an phat bear going to check out the websites you recommended.

No, The Union Hotel in Brooklyn. It's on the Bookit.com website for $109 per night including travel cards.

It's still in my maybe pike as you said there are bars nearby which provide free popcorn :rotfl:

I'll check this other hotel though too
