Unfortunately M - 25th is the earliest I can depart, but can move the other way say Weds/Thurs to the Sun or Mon to incorporate the Sat night and try and lower the price. I have been trying travel supermarket, expedia, ebookers etc. Thanks for your help, it's for my wives 40th birthday and I really appreciate it and I know she will, it will be a dream come true for her!

Hey again..
All I can say is *ouch* these prices hurt..
£650 each for a direct flight is just crippling finding a decent deal. I've never really searched before for this time of year, so don't actually know if this is a good price or not. Looking directly at the Delta website (and airline I know, and understand their fare classes), the tickets that they're selling now are in classes L on the outbound, and U on the inbound.
The three cheapest classes (in order) are L, U, with T being the cheapest. Not having any T class fares might be significant that they will release some, and prices will drop down.
With regards to the hotel, July and August you really can get some bargains in NYC, because of the weather, a lot of people leave town, and go on their vacations themselves. Maybe what you should do is get something booked that you can cancel, without penalty, and nearer to the time, check out places like travelzoo.com and have a look at the offers that are on. Why pay more than you need to, but also, you might actually get a really nice hotel, for really cheap.
Sorry I can't be much more of a help, but I get the feeling that it's a little too early to find the bargains.

Hi Guys,
My partner and I are planning to get married in Central Park next year and at the mo May is looking like the cheapest time to do it. My question is what is the temperature normally like around the begining of May? I'll be wearing a strapless dress and don't want to look freezing in the pics!
Thanks

I was in NY last year from May 6th to 13th. The first two days were nice and warm where you could wear a top alone and not feel cold, a night you would nice a jacket though. The remaining days were more chilly and rainy where cardie's, jumpers and jackets were needed. The weather reports said it was not normal May weather but i suppose that's the pitfall of planning for a certain weather... it's so unpredictable!0

Hi am new to these boards & reading through the New York posts, up to page 98!.
We will be arriving in NY by cruise ship, Queen Mary2. Anyone any tips for arriving this way & getting into NY.
We are staying 6 nights at New Yorker from 26th april 2011. this will be our 1st visit to NY. :j
OH wants to go to see a sporting event. We can see baseball tickets on stubhub but none on official web-site. Will they become available?
No sports (or anything else) at Madison Square garden yet on website. Is there any chance there will be a basketball game?
Thanks0 -
fue-fue, when will you be in New York? That will determine what events will be in season then.0

Hi All,
Well, I still haven't booked my hotel yet! Mainly because I've been obsessed with the "Earn £11k in 2011" board so all my spare time has been taken up with eBay sales!
I've been catching up on the posts and saw someone is travelling at the same time as me (end of April) and asked when late availability of hotels at that time will be out.
Is this true? If I wait longer will I get a better deal? If not, it's back to the brand new hotel M suggestedDEBT FREE SINCE 25.07.14!

The regular NBA season finishes in mid-April so before you arrive. There may however still be a basketball game on if the Knicks make the playoffs but I don't know what the chances of that are (seems like they're doing ok at the moment but there's still a while to go), or how difficult it would be to come by tickets if they did.
Baseball might be your best bet if you just want to see a sporting event of some description. The Mets are only playing away during your dates but the Yankees are at home against both the Chicago White Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays during your stay with a game on each of the 6 days you'll be there.
Not sure about tickets - we went to a Dodgers game whilst in LA last year and just bought individual tickets on the day but not sure if that varies by team depending on how popular they are, how many have season tickets etc?0 -
Just wanted to thank M4RKM (and all the other contributers) profusely for these NYC threads. I've booked flights for late September but no hotel just yet (plenty of time yet, right!?) and I'm sure they'll prove more and more valuable as it gets closer!
We're spending 7 nights there and are hoping to see a show and / or a sports event. Also, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on hiring a car / getting a train and popping out of the city somewhere for the day? As I haven't booked any hotels yet I could even book a night mid-trip elsewhere ... any recommendations?"The most desirable trait of the internet is the ability to attribute quotes to anyone."
