  • Hi do you think £1072 is the best I will get for flights for 2 people for the following travel:

    8.40am 23 April 2011 to Heathrow to Newark coming back 7.25pm 28 April 2011.

I looked at flights yesterday and they were £977 and its now shot up :( I have checked a few places but guess I would like a little reassurance that this is a fair price.

    Thank you

Quick question, is there inflight meal served on continental flight? we flying from edinb to newark? many thanks jane

Yes you do. We flew the same flight, well from Glasgow, on our way to Orlando. We were delayed due to the volcanic ash and so got lunch not long after take off, then near the end we were given a lunchbox with a sandwich, crisps etc. You get a choice for the meal, think ours was pasta or chicken, be warned though dependant on where you're sitting on the plane they could have ran out of one option if it's more popular :( All in all, both probably the best meals I've had on an airline.

Doing the same flights next month as well :D

did i forget to mention about www.ohmyrockness.com - that is the NYC gig guide that greenface hasn't found yet. Loads of great indie / rock bands. Not as pop as The Script, but you can see people in small venues, where you actually see the band, rather than hear them. ;)

Oh, and your website link in your signature doesn't work.

No. I've found flights on Kayak, via United/Continental for £507 each with similar flight times, so that works out at £1014...

Quick question - has anyone on here ever flown Aer Lingus to New York? Looking at flight prices on Kayak they're coming up with the best prices from Manchester with a change in Dublin on the way, flying into JFK.

It looks like they use Airbus A330s on this route, configured 2 - 4 - 2 for seating, which is one good thing. Also their website seems to suggest they now have on demand, seat back IFE installed on the planes flying routes to the USA. Anyone have any first hand experience?

Yup. I did one trip MAN - DUB - JFK, and it's not bad at all, Since that trip I've just not found them cheaper than Delta, or Delta via LHR, sometimes I don't mind the extra travelling.

I'm not addicted to IFE, and don't see the obsession with it, so I can't comment, I rarely use it, as I always have music with me.

  • If you fly Aer Lingus via DUB is it correct that you clear imigration (is this different to the security bit?) during the transfer at Dublin? We were looking at flying from Birmingham next time - flights looked nice and cheap too (about £250 each for flights during the the June half term) the other week too.
