What dates are you looking at scottish gal?
We're there the 8th March to 11th March so 3 nights. Unfortunately dates are fixed as flights are booked and we leave on a cruise on the 11th.
I've got a good rate at the Fitzpatrick but still holding out, lol. Looking for Times Square/Midtown (crazy, I know). I've been once before and stayed at the Millenium Hilton in Downtown which we LOVED but would prefer Midtown this time (plus the price of the Millenium is out of budget anyway).

After a trawl of the net this afternoon and reading comments it maybe beneficial/cheaper to stay outside Time Sqaure guessing transport won't be a problem anyway.
We've found a deal on expedia flying into newark airport & staying at the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor Hotel (has anyone stayed here the reviews seem good) for a week the price is around £650pp. Its by no means set in stone and we still need to decided whether to go from Manchester or Heathrow there's a saving of about £30 each Good or bad decision?0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm travelling to New York on the 28/01/11 with my BF and will be landing at JFK at around midday, I've just been reading through all of the post and am in awe of it all!
Soo excited and cannot wait but feeling a little under prepared, have booked through Virgin but havent booked a transfer from the airport to our Hotel (comfort Inn Manahattan) Just wondering what the best was of travelling from the airport to our hotel will be?! Any help will be much appreciated
TIA x0 -
The easiest way is to wander outside the terminal and get in a yellow cab which will drop you at the door of your hotel for $65 all in, however remember to have the address, including cross street of your hotel as most taxi drivers have'nt got a scooby where anything isLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

as phatbear said easiest by far is a yellow cab.
just make sure you go to the rank where all cabs are lined up there will be a controller who asks where going,he then tells driver and gives you a receipt.
there are lots of unlicensed drivers outside who try and hassle you in to using them (was last oct when i went anyway)0 -

its a $45 fixed fee for anywhere in Manhattan when travelling from JFK . The Tolls will set you back about $5 . So taxi driver should ask you for around $50 no more . If you give him $60 , he will be a happy Hector !!0 -
Hi everyone
I'm planning to go to NY in June with my husband for my 30th. How long would you recommend we go for? I was thinking about spending 4 nights in the city itself, then go somewhere else for the other 3 nights - any recommendations of other places to visit relatively close to NY (we wouldn't mind a short plane ride)
Thanks for your help

Hi Star.
How long you spend is such a subjective thing. First time we went we spent 6 days/7 nights there, and it wasn't enough to do everything we waned to do.
Next time was 6 full days and it felt enough for the second time. This time was 5 nights and it didn't feel enough. I would look at what you want to do, and how long that will practically take and work from there. Where else were you hoping to visit?0 -
Hi, have read thru alot of posts on this thread, wondering if anyone can help, ive been to nyc twice but good few years back now when i was 15/16....hoping to go this coming december 1st/2nd week for 4/5 nights...
is it wiser do people find and cheaper to book it as a package or do flights and hotel seperate...ive found flights £400-495 with virgin or AA but hotel prices are very high near times sq.
anyone recommend any tips?
thanks x0 -
Dont wanna be rude but you can answer this question yourself by pricing up packages too suit your needs then comparing the price with seperate booking option. Personaly i use expedia for my packages as i cant be bothered with faffing around.
Another point why do you want to stay in times sq?Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
