My problem is the price are quoted per person and your saying "we" that tells us nothing about your journey and who "we" is. Where are you flying from ? how many? if two from Heathrow/Mankchester etc. Thats say 340 flight each and 317 for your hotel (£634)about $1000 if 3 of you 340 flight + £950 for your hotel. The New Yorker is a classic iconic hotel with a great history youve stayed there before and see the good in the place and the area. But i am sure you can get a better rate for 3 nights than over $300 per night (unless youve upgraded ) but often it suits people using internet to serch for holidays and getting deals from Expedia will often be cheaper than high street TA (i booked a great deal using last minute . com before now)and these companys are big we now know and nearly trust them , and saves worring about anything. Often Flights/hotel/tickets/food/transferes even shows can all be booked as deals now.
Sorry Greenface - I should have put a little more detail in 'we' is just 2 of us me and my sister, Flying from Heathrow.
the price quote was just for a standard room with 1 queen bed which is what we stayed in last year. Its not set in stone that we have to go back to the New Yorker but it took us so long to find somewhere last time that we liked the look of and found good reviews for that it just seens easier to go back there again. If you have any other recommendations for hotels of a similar standard to the new yorker i'll be more than happy to have a look and compare some prices.
whislt we aren't on a hugely strict budget it would be nice to know that we are booking it for a good price and that we wont go on line a few weeks later and find it cheaper.

I have no problem with the New Yorker Ive never stayed there and apart from some rooms are small ive only heard reasonable reviews.A good base to stay in a slightly less manic evening area within a 20 /30 minute WALK from most places you would walk to. (south manhattan SOL Battery Park Brooklyn Bridge etc. i would use transport)I would like to look around there if not there next visit Poss a bit lower into flatiron. Our last visit we looked at The New Yorker also Grand Hyatt, Hampton and Affina ?? We chose the Hyatt which was a good choice as hotel was very clean and in a good location and was at a price just about the same as the others. Just a personal choice but would and prob will use the New Yorker soon as some discounts are better than many others and (like the wellington) seem to sell and discount on uk sites . Enjoy NYC. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

I always stay at the New Yorker when i go to New York - the location is ideal for me. When i ve been searching for holidays to NYC i ve always found that expedias prices have been higher for the New Yorker and there flight times always seem to be poor. Have you tried a company called 'Lets go 2'. If you google them you should find their website.
I ve travelled with them before - was a better price and flight times than expedia. Also you could try hayes and jarvis. They sometimes have offers on packages staying at the New Yorker.0 -
hi pinkie, thats useful info,Could you please tell me if you know if the new yorker has three bedded rooms, we go there in June, we may have to change the room format. what is the best way to get there from jfk for 9 people?0
-
Tolstoy, tis so hard to say the best way, because it depends on people and budget.
For nine people it might be worth seeing if you can book a shuttle with one of the limo companies. If they can take 9 people in one go it might be as cost effective as getting the train into Manhattan.0 -
Me and a mate are looking to go to New York in March hopefully around st patricks day, my mates done a search and found a deal staying at the Edison Hotel did a quick search here but didn't find much. Should I be worried?0

Is it the Edison Hotel Times Square?
Trip advisor reviews are a bit mixed but maybe someone here has stayed there and can give you a more personal response:

What deal have they got price-wise? Just been having a look on Travelzoo and there are a few decent looking deals going up to March at the moment:

Thanks Vikki,
I believe it is the Edison hotel time square, and as you say they are a bit mixed. were gonna have a look this afternoon and see if we can find any deals I think the one my mates looking at is from Heathrow on Sun 13 March till Friday, and its about £760 each I can't remember many details (we were in the pub). Will have a look at that Travelzoo link, I started looking last night online but it just seems a bit of a minefield going through all the links and offers. Thanks0 -
