If it's the Acer Aspire One..
Start here http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_one_110.html there's a Firefox 3 (may not be 3.6 though) in the Applications drop-down - should be a download, find, double-click to install (they've re-vamped the site since I downloaded it, so no guarantees).0 -
These instructions did the trick when my dad asked me to put the latest version on his Aspire One. All you need to do is substitute "firefox-3.5.2" with "firefox-3.6" and change "lang=en-US" to "lang=en-GB" when entering the relevant commands.0

You should have a 'package manager' of some sort, which you can use to do the installing for you. I think Fedora-based Linuxes use the 'RPM Package Manager'.
If not, try the terminal command
sudo Apt-Get install Firefox
Press enter and you'll be asked for your password. I believe that Linpus can use the 'Apt-get' system. It's far simpler than messing about with tarballs (tar.gz files). It will look for the latest version of Firefox and install it itself. If this doesn't work, try the instructions below.0 -
I've clarified the following to make it a little easier to understand.Installing Firefox 3.5 on Aspire One Linux
Acer has interwoven Firefox 2 with the rest of the system, that's why a quite unusual approach is required to install the newest version.
Press Alt+F2 to show the Run program window. Check the Run in terminal box and click Run, which opens a terminal. If you're not familiar with the Linux command line just follow the instructions step by step. The easiest way is to simply paste the commands into the terminal with Ctrl+Shift+V. Most of them will only give feedback if an error occurs.
The first command uses "wget" to download Firefox 3.5.2 from an official mirror. Enter the following command into the terminal:
wget "http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.5.2&os=linux&lang=en-US"
The next step unzips the downloaded file and modifies a link to point to it. Enter the commands,
sudo tar -jxf firefox-3.5.2.tar.bz2 --directory /opt
sudo chown user -R /opt/firefox
sudo ln -fs /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
The next step links all plug-ins (not to be confused with extensions) to it. Enter,
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/* /opt/firefox/plugins
Launch the Firefox profile manager using the command below. Create a new profile, name it anything you like and select it. If you want to keep your bookmarks export them via the bookmark manager first. You can then delete the old default profile.
firefox -profilemanager -no-remote
Finally reboot the AA1 to make the desktop aware of the new icon and browser location.0 -

Okay. It sounds like there are specific issues with Linpus anyway that make *those* instructions necessary.0
