Money taken from my son, not the father, who to complain to

I have just spend most of the day trying to sort out a mess the csa has made with my son. He has had £361 taken out of his pay for child support. He has no children, lives in Wales and has always lived in Wales.
It turns out the Mother of this child who lives in York, didn't know the DOB of the father, so when the CSA did a check on the name and DOB, my son was top of the list, even though, their middle names are different, and the other boy had changed his name 7 years ago and he didn't tell this girl.

My son has been stressed all day over this, they have assured me that he will get his money back, but How can the CSA do this without doing a thorough check, as the two men involved live hundreds of miles apart.
How do I make a complaint about this, and not to the CSA as they will not do this properly, as someone was not doing their job properly
Thanks to all who post comps :)

Contact your MP pronto, make a complaint to him/her and demand that they contact the head of the CSA on your behalf, otherwise the CSA will f**k about for months. Because that's all they are good at doing.

The CSA should be paying this back immediately, with compensation on top.

If he's had the money taken from his pay, this needs sorting ASAP as it could be a regular monthly payment, which they could take again!

This is truly shocking, how can they just pluck someone out of thin air because his name is alike to someone else?!

I hope he gets it sorted, please let us know how he gets on.

    Hi,

Make an official complaint to the agency and send a copy to your MP - keep copies of everything and send correspondence signed for.

is this a classic case of government control. see a solicitor, go to the papers, its schocking, how can an 'agency' just abuse and retrieve moneys from someones personal banking system? seems like theft to me. it should be treated as such, but i bet you have a fight on your hands.

Just to clarify I was referring to the CSA.

Your MP on the other hand, might have time to deal with this now as he won't be busy filling in an expenses claim...

(You all thought I was going to suggest that MPs were thieving b******s didn't you??? - oh hang on, I did!)

  • Julieef - using your MP is the best option, not only to get the issue resolved, but you should also claim for the distress etc your son has suffered. But if you have any problems getting this sorted, and making sure no further monies are taken - email me directly (rather than through our enquiries) and I will see if I can prod someone to get this sorted for you...chair@nacsa.co.uk
