Oh dear indeed.
I hope you never need to ring customer services.

Hello.
I really don't want to start an arguement or open a can of worms, and I respect other members' comments about TalkTalk, but I can only give my own personal recommendations.
Very happy with their service so far. Very friendly and helpful customer services, good prices, and they are also quick to admit faults and fix them. For example, I contested calls to Guernsey that I had been charged for (got my first bill a couple of days ago) as I read in the Terms and Conditions that calls to all 01 and 02 numbers were free. There was an arguement about whether Guernsey was in the UK or not, being in the Channel Islands, but instead of a big fight like I had expected (had it with '3' re: the same issue) they have refunded my call charges.
they have also been very good about the little things, such as phoning up to see if I ws happy with the service, and calling up to check that I was satisfied with the way they handled my most recent issue.
Also, something that is close to me personally, very happy with the way they have treated me as a visually impaired customer, getting things sent out in Braille, and being more than happy to explain things to me even when they are printed quite clearly on the website.
Two things they could do better:
1. Real-time call monitoring on their website. They are planning to implement this in the fall, but in the meantime their 'unbilled calls' figure in the 'my account' section on their website is quite accurate.
2. Logging of sales pitch calls and visits. I was a little annoyed that two guys came round to my house to pitch TalkTalk to me, even though I was already a member. would be good if they could keep track of who is a customer and who isn't.
But apart from that, fine so far.
Please bear in mind that my telephone use is probably quite different to others, none of use have the same usage habits. Therefore, what may seem like a great deal for me may not be for you. an example of this is for someone who dials a lot of 0845/0844/0870 numbers (e.g for cheap international calls) as they will actually be paying more than they would with BT (thread on this elsewhere in this forum).
cheers and take care.

Signed up for Talk Talk phone and free broadband ( you know the one) and had changed my mind 12hours later. I have sent them an email yesterday and again today but still no response.
Anyone else been in this position and had any difficulty in cancelling within the 10 day cooling off period?
It does say that they require this in writing but will an email be enough?0 -
I joined talk-talk over the phone and then changed my mind. I phoned them later that day and told them. They phoned me again about three times to try to persuade me to stay with them, but eventually they got the message.0

For your own peace of mind I would send them a cancellation letter in the post tomorrow and get proof of postage. I'm not sure how you stand cancelling by e-mail.
May be worth a phone call to them as well if you've got time to spare getting through, just to make sure.0 -
I agree, write to them and send it special delivery. An email doesn't contain your signature or any confirmation that it reached the addressee, a letter sent special delivery (not certificate of posting) does.0

I don't know what the problem is, I'm with TalkTalk and have been very happy; I've saved about £200 so far. I've yet to see what the broadband's like though....
The thing is though, I have a brother in Cyprus (29p per minute with BT) and a father in the US (4ppm) I can now speak to both for free saving about £20 per month plus I get free national calls too which is handy for calling Mum and nan.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
Actually whilst I agree that their customer service is useless to put it mildly, I have been impressed by the savings. I call my Dad in the US on his mobile for free. This was costing me about £20 per month. I never called my brother in Cyprus because it was so expensive but now I get to speak to both of them for free (well £9.99 per month). Add free calls to other people around the UK and it's good value.
Until the free broadband offer came out I found that you could get customer service within a minute or so and were very helpful. I gather that demand has exceeded expectations by a factor of ten and now they've farmed out some of the CS to india which is the case with BT anyhow.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
I agree completely. Until the Broadband offer, they were fine; I think that they're just victims of their own success!
I have been pitched the service so many times I've resorted to put a sign on my door saying that I've already got it. It seems that there a a lot of Freelance salesmen around. In fact I've been offered £5 for each friend I sign up so perhaps they're turning this into a little business.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0
