Signing for TalkTalk (merged threads)

I urge you all to give this company a wide berth.

I have been a customer for three days and already it is apparent that the customer service is an absolute farce.

My phone has not worked for two of the three days. I can make no outgoing calls and anyone trying to phone me gets through to another completely unrelated residential number.

So, I have been forced to call TT's 'Customer Service' from my mobile on a premium 0800 line (i.e I am paying for the pleasure of phoning to ask them to fix my line.)

But here is where the real fun starts - after going through the inevitable tree of options you eventually get to wait in line for customer services where you are told every minute or so how important your custom is to them - this waiting has so far taken 25, 35, 18 and 31 mins on four seperate occasions (at premium rate don't forget) at which point you either receive an automated message saying they are very busy and please try again later or you speak to some foreign call centre individual who transfers you to to the fault line.

Needless to say, waiting for the fault line again takes another 15-30 minutes (believe me, i've tried it) of again being told how uniquely important my custom is to them, before inevitably getting kicked out of the queue with that dear old automated message again saying they are very busy and please try again later.

In many ways it would save us all alot of time and money if TT simply had a message on its customer support number that you could get to straight away which said 'we dont give a monkeys for you now that we have got you on an 18 month contract, and I'm afraid that our 'service' is absolutely appaling so why don't you go away and realise that you've been had?'

What a truly truly terrible company - and once again I urge you not to go anywhere near them.....

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Just to put some balance to this thread. I fully appreciate the OP's frustration at the way he has been treated. However I personally have always had reasonably good customer service from Talk Talk and have saved a lot of money by using their CPS service for the last 18 months. I believe the recent deterioration in service is because they have been inundated with the demand for the offer of the very cheaply priced broadband and phone package. Whilst if you decide to take up this offer then be prepared for problems until they get their act together I do not see it as a reason for CPS customers to leave if the CPS deal is good for them as it is for me.

    BEWARE of Talktalk.
I left in November and just received a creditor's notice today for £64 and no invoice.

I have had no invoice for this amount so I will see talktalk in court if they want this money.

    Customer services were USELESS

I have two CPS accounts with TT, they are now in breach of contract on both accounts. I've re-sent them my original e-mail of Feb 2006 that sets out our contractual arrangements, I've asked them to resolve the problem within 24 hours. Next e-mail is to CEO etc.

I am contractually entitled to evening and weekend calls at no monthly charge. This contract was agreed in Feb 2006 with a 6 month contract period. TT are now trying to charge me for evening calls.

I won last time, but they appear to be playing a different game now. It must awful having a line rental agreement with TT.

Wash my mouth out with soap etc, but I'm considering moving back to BT for a quieter life ....... OK, only kidding.

    Avoid them like the plague!!
Been with them for 18 months for calls only - no reason to call them so OK.
Then made the big mistake of signing up for 'free' broadband.
My bill prior to signing up was £18 approx pm. My last bill is £46 .... and I don't even have broadband!! Sent them cancellation notice by rec delivery in May - ignored. Sent them emails to email address provided by the regulator - ignored. Called them .... what a joke that is.
Just received my complaint pack from Otelo to attempt to claim back money overpaid. Managed to cancel line rental and call package (I hope!!) by getting BT involved. I've yet to receive a bill from TT though; I'm half expecting them to continue to charge me. Please, please, if you value your sanity don't sign up for Broadband from them; they will start charging you £10.99 pm for months before you get your broadband (and then I've heard it doesn't work!).
