    Evening all.

Thread looks long, wonder if I will get to the end before bedtime. lots of ebay packing to do tonight then frantic trip to post office tomorrow. We only get 30 mins lunchbreak and I have to drive to the nearest PO. My boss was due to be in meetings, so I was thinking it would be OK if I was 5 mins late back but her meetings are cancelled :(

I have just had the idea of looking for other POs that may not charge for parking. Only saves 50p but every little helps :)

Spud - I've done this three times now and it's not an easy decision. All mine made their choices for very different reasons and certainly two of them had no idea about what they wanted to do as a career.

I would be inclined to let her choose what she will enjoy, within reason, on the basis that if she hates the subject (regardless of how 'useful' it is) she won't want to put the effort in when it comes to revising etc. I know DS thinks like this and I can understand it.

Don't worry about A levels at this stage unless she has any particular subjects in mind now, as some A levels can be taken even if they haven't done the GCSE (of course not things like sciences, maths etc).

Feel free to PM me if I can be of any help x

Spud~If poss let her choose things she likes.
She will do better at things she likes.

    Freezing here.

    By jove I thnk we've done it :j :T

I wrote a list of all the subjects and we went through them one by one either crossing off the no's or leaving them on as maybes. We went through the maybes one by one, DD reading the information on each subject and again, deciding yes or maybe.

The 4 yes's are ICT, Sociology, History and Geography. This left 4 maybes - Modern History, Business Studies, Product Design and Resistant Materials. She then binned modern history, leaving her 3 reserves :D

Good news Spud. It's a very stressful time for all concerned but she has a very supportive family so whatever she ends up choosing, you will all be rooting for her. That's as important as the subject choices themselves. She's a lucky girl!
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T

  • bb, the difference with doing the drama degree would have been that I enjoyed it. My english degree has no bearing on what I do now. Nor would a drama degree but at least I wouldn't have hated uni. Maybe. I should have gone and done media at college and become a dj like I really wanted. Or hair dresser. Sigh

    Gemzie,

Could you get a credit union loan for the £500? Might help you out a bit?
