TUPE is the set of regulations designed to protect employees when their employer is taken over.

Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 - basically if the tasks people previously did under the old contract carry on under the new company their employment is protected and they will transfer across with protect service and terms and conditions. Designed to protect employees in these circumstances, when businesses are sold or transferred and when services are contracted in/out - and also what I advise on for a living :p . Doesn't guarantee people a job but gives them a fair chance.

ETA Carlsberg - not a numpty! I bet you can run rings round me on conveyancing. I just forget it isn't an everyday term for other people.

Poohbear - surely your lot are a bit old for nitcombs?

Our bedroom looks a lot better for a good tidy. I may even sleep tonight. Please :p

See, hex explains it best :A There are several of us on here who have hazy understanding as we do a bit of advising on it or have faced it ourselves
