Or even worse - I had to extract a sock caked in poo that was hanging out my dogs rectum the other day
Im not really a 'dog person' but that has really made me LOL!!!!! Yuk!:D
I have 4 kids, and 3 of them were out of nappies day and night by their 2nd birthday, but DS is only just out of nighttime nappies at age 4 (and still wets the bed quite often), which taught me that the child will only do it when they are physically able, just like walking or using scissors.;)
As parents we just do what we gotta do, dont we, and get on with it, whatever works.
Mostly I just washed my kids bums in the sink and didnt bother too much with wipes unless I was out. But baby wipes put in the bin after are really good for toddlers(and bigger kids:p ) learning to be independent.0 -

I can't help having views that people don't agree with!! I'm not saying a child is abnormal, I'm not saying everyone should go out and potty train at 1, I'm not saying a child should be able to use the toilet at one! I'm just saying, potty train at the earliest age you think your child is capable because it saves a lot stress money and time! For me that was 1, for another child that might be 2.... It doesn't matter, but if you think your child might be ready, strike whilst the iron's hot ebacuse you won't look back.
I make no apologies for feeling sick at scraping poo of anyone's bum!0 -
missk_ekkington .. are you a parent ..if not (which i assume is the case as once a parant you get used to wiping poo off most things) why are you commenting on a post about bottom wipes that so obviously relates to children ? ?0

funky footprints I am a parent. My son is 2.You get used to wiping poo, you never learn to like it! And in the case of most things I don't like, I try to find a way around them!0

Humans are amazing in that we can form opinions, develop ideas, sympathise and empathise with unfamiliar situations. I always hate the idea that 'you cant know what something like unless youve done it' . Im not yet a parent but read the thread with interest - hey it helps to be prepared! Us non-parents have a voice too, and we also know what poo is all about - and I know its something im not looking forward to lol!
Wipes are something id not use on myself, and not tempted to try on future children, definitely in the 'can survice without camp'. As pointed out these come from the over steralised US world, which is why Americans travelling to Europe often have problems with our bacteria - they cant cope with it. A healthy immune system needs exposure to bacteria, its all about understanding the risks and taking appropriate measures. Of course hygiene is important, but we dont need to live in operating theatre conditions...

Err no actually. I caused myself a LOT of time and stress by trying to potty train my daughter when she was 2. All the accidents to wipe up (pooh in a nappy is a lot easier to deal with than poo on the floor, in the pushchair or wee in the ball pit of the local soft play area.
My son is now 2 and a half, why on earth should I put myself through that stress and mess again when he is perfectly happy in a cloth nappy.
My daughter was finally potty trained just before her 3rd birthday, my son at the moment has no understanding of his weeing and pooing. He will not even sit on a potty never mind do anything on it.
I personally find it unbeleivable that parents do this pushing them onto the next stage so quickly thing, childhood is not a race. Why should we push babies to be on solids as early as possible, out of a cot and potty trained. Let babies be babies.
It is possible to "potty train" from birth, it is called elimination communication and it is where the mother recognises the signs her child is about to go and plops them over a potty but it is not the child that is trained, it is the parent. I don't want to be doing all that running around.
Oh and back to the OP, I work for a plumbing firm, Kandoo, don't even go there!!!0 -
My next door neighbour just had to pay out about £150 the other day as she flushes the wet wipes she uses in the bathroom.
Before I had kids I hated the idea of changing nappies, but now they're here I don't just 'get on with it' when changing their bums, I like making them clean, it's part of caring for them and I love doing mummy things. Ok, so I'll probably not feel like that after changing nappies for a couple of years but I don't look forward to potty trinaing two of them!
I agree that some things are silly, but things like sterillising until 1 are important! Babies haven't built up their immune system before one and the milk collects bacteria.. am sure you all know that so won't go on about it but I think it's very important to sterillise anything that touches milk.0
