Beware your words don't come back to haunt you if you have another;) . My eldest (a boy) came out of nappies before 2.5 years, said he didn't want to wear nappies anymore, took them off, no wee accidents after 1st fortnight, never had a soiling accident. What a doddle he was so when the next was a girl and I'd heard people telling me how much easier they were to train, I thought she'd be ready well before 2. How wrong I was, she was approaching her 3rd birthday when she finally mastered it and still has the occassional accident. How different 2 kids to the same parents can be.missk_ensington wrote:Think its bloody disgusting when a kid at two and a half is still kacking its pants0 -
miss k its "normal" for many 2.5 yr olds to be still in nappies !!!
anyhooooooo we use normal baby wipes when my son wants to be clean after a number 2,he uses loo roll aswell
wouldnt bother with the specialist ones or handwashes for that matter !0 -
Tesco's value wipes seemed to do the job for us - just fit them into a brand name dispenser.0

The Tesco value ones are also much thinner and easier to flush.
Lidl do cheap wipes, brand name Cien - very good ones too.0 -
pdoff wrote:i wouldn't recommend flushing toilet wipes either - our drain was blocked & mr dynarod said was cos of kandoo type wipes & is a common problem. we only ever used a maximum of 2 which should be fine but wasn't! bin them instead, or will cost u nearly £100 to clear drain - not very moneysaving!!
snap .. we had to have our front garden dig up as mr dyno rod man couldnt pin point the blockage with his camera rod. Delightful blockage was eventually found, but we had to have part of our garden re-turfed after wards ..delightful claim on house insurance which put our premium up ..thanks for finding this site i then shopped around. Anyway toilet wipes are made for the US Market, US homes have bigger drinas, dyno rod man told us 3 out of 5 call outs are for blocked drains and kan doo wipes !!0 -
I find wipes give an extra clean to the botty area so smells fresher and avoids skids

My sister also had an expensive drain clearing bill after using kandoo wipes, they dont use them now!!!!! Ive never used them, and if my children have ever needed a bit more 'help' when wiping their bums, we have just wet the toilet roll slightly with some water, works a treat, and doesnt block the loo!!!!!0

I don't wish to be disrespectful but sometimes there are reasons why they are still 'kacking its pants' as you so eloquently put it. Having had two premature babies, one of whom has a chronic illness hence digestive problems, I know from first hand experience!
Oh, forgot to mention, we mainly use Tesco's own kids ones I think they are 98p. But I noticed in Wilkos today their own make is buy one get one free and I think they were around same price - I am sure someone will be able to confirm this. Hope this helps!0 -
oh my god youre getting me very worried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my girls love the smell of the wipes and i tend to buy the supermarkets own brands they only use the odd one for a poo and normal toilet roll for the rest because it is easier to wipe the initial poo off for them !!!!!!!!!! i have wondered about blocked toilets but thought they must dissolve or else they wouldnt make them! how wrong i am then!!!!(i'll tell the girls to limit it to half a wipe for poo now!!!!!:rotfl: )funky-footprints wrote:snap .. we had to have our front garden dig up as mr dyno rod man couldnt pin point the blockage with his camera rod. missk_ensington wrote:Becles- its another way to make money out of parents! Its a wonder civilisation has managed to evolve for 2000+ years without kandoo potty training wipes! I found wet wipes perfectly sufficient, or plain old loo roll with a bit or water on!
Saw them kandoo things the other day and they're like £2.50 a packet or something daft like that! Not sure how they aid toilet training, my little boy was enthralled at using loo roll by himself to wipe his bum because he felt grown up! As most people know by now I think we're getting ridiculous with the things we do for our kids and nannying them 'no solids until 6 months' 'sterilise until 1 year' 'don't potty train until two'. Think its bloody disgusting when a kid at two and a half is still kacking its pants
Really don't agree with what you are saying. You are making a good point. Society is now more of a nannying people but the reason for the 'no solids until 6 months' 'sterilise until 1 year' 'don't potty train until two' is that there is lots of research that shows the bad effects it has on people. Yes many are OK but at the same time many are not. <6months weening means your child is more likely to have allergies (which is on the increase). I personally decided to potty train at this age because is is now summer and did not want ot do it in the cold weather... also the later you do it the easier the potty training is. .. I am after an easy life. My son is not suffering from pooing his pants until then.. and I don't want to spend ages cleaning up lots of wee/poo off the carpet when training a 1 1/2 year old.
As long as you know and understand why there are reasons for the "nannying" then you can make an informed decision. People don't always really know the reason for the nannying and make an uninformed decision... I am no different in that. It is all risk accessment and if you know the risk then thats your decision and that is fine buy you.
Yes you are right previous MSEs. Why do we need these wipes. We don't really need them they are just an extra thing that can make life a little easier. Will go for the toilet paper and water idea.... More environmentally friendly.. free and no added chemicals too. Did not like the fact that what was on the market were all chemical and perfumed.
