I did a loaf of bread last night. Wholemeal with some mixed seeds in the dough and a layer on top (pumpkin, linseed, sesame, I forget what else - from a mixed bag from Julian Graves). I might put a few more seeds in next time but I have to be careful as too many seeds and DH won't eat it.

I won a blog giveaway yesterday, for a book about bread and some Allinson flour and yeast! So excited, I can't wait to get my prizes and make some of the recipes.

I made flap jacks, millies cookies and coconut fairy cakes. Am going to do pancakes for breakfast tomorrow morning, and am thinking about making some cheese and courgette scones for the freezer. If I can get them to fit :o
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

A teabread-sort of cake. Could not bring myself to throw away all the cold tea in the pot so I soaked raisins and then added them to flour, eggs, a bit of sugar, a bit of oil and some baking powder. Beat the lot into submission and baked until golden. Amazingly, it looks, smells and tastes really nice, just like a real cake (considering I am not a very experienced cake-baker I am proud of my effort!).

I also made some plum jam which did not set terribly well so it will be a great sauce for the pancakes I am planning to make for breakfast tomorrow, after reading Taadaa's post!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Just made some lemon bars from the Martha Stewart Cookies book. She has almost the same recipe on her website here. They're very yummy but I need to find someone to help me eat them.

It's the first thing I've made from this book, I bought it without realising that all the recipes use cup measures instead of weighing the ingredients. I hate using cups, it seems really imprecise, not to mention that the kitchen ends up being a mess afterwards because of trying to pour flour and sugar into a small container and it spilling everywhere.

  • Pineapple upside down cakes (individual) and a Victoria sponge for tea tonight and pudding with custard during the week. Yesterday apple pie and jam tarts with the pastry trimmmings and chocolate chip biscuits (all eaten). Oven off for a day or two now!
  • Angeltreats. If you look on the recipe section of Waitrose site there is a "tools" page that gives American cup conversions. (sorry don't know how to do links) There are probably others too.

I lived in US as a child and have a couple of favourite recipes that use cups but I converted them some years ago becaus I agree that they are not a convenient measure.
