Tried 2 things today. Caramel shortbread and also marshmallow brownies (as recipe above) caramel shortbread is lacking in the caramel and choc department and the brownie is lacking in the "sticking together and not falling apart" department lol. But apart from that - successful evening baking ;)

I had the opposite problem with the brownies, they stuck to everything :rotfl:

I made a starter dough today, thought I would give sour dough bread a bash. Just need to wait for a week now!

    Hello

I'm a newcomer to this thread. I've just got into baking bread (without a breadmaker). I've got a good recipe for a wholemeal loaf which seems to turn out well every time and I'd like to put seeds on top but they just fall off when I cut the loaf. Does anyone have any tips for making them stick or would it be better just to mix them in with the dough?

I'm a newcomer to this thread too and I think it's great!
I have been making bread now for a few weeks and like you, without a breadmaker.
I also struggled with keeping the seeds on my dough.
What I do now is when you're ready to put the dough in the tin, spread the seeds out on your worktop, wet your hands and moisten the shaped dough then firmly but gently simply roll the dough in the seeds.
Place the dough in the tin and scrape onto the the top of the dough any left over seeds.
You do end up with seeds all over the bread this way but it also stops the bread from sticking to the tin.
Hope this has helped a bit. :)
  • My usual Dan Lepard white bread recipe and some Michel Roux Coffee Custard Cafe ala Creme done in the slow cooker.

Mini Lemon Tarts, Rustic Cheddar and Onion Quiche, Lime and Coffee Macaroons, Apple and Raisin Scones. Got a meeting tomorrow with a lady who wants me to cater her birthday tea so lots of samples needed. Later will be making some red onion marmalade.

Macaroons are a bit flat but very yummy and I am sure the kids will polish off the less beautiful ones!
  • Garlic bread and a seed cake (old fashioned but nice, must not eat until flavour developes though).

Today I'm obsessively job hunting and experimenting with macaroons: mango and pineapple (the French method), raspberry and chocolate (the Italian method).

  • I made oat and banana muffins and a flapjack, lunchbox treats for tomorrow. :)

Today I baked bread. A bit better this time, but still not perfect! Sigh!
