My neighbour knocked on the door last night late as he was walking his dog, in his hand a bagful of windfalls, he said as is the custom in these here parts I give my kind neighbours some windfalls and the next day a beautiful apple pie appears... cheeky blighter...
I'm now making apple pie for OH and next door and apple/blackberry just for me...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

We use it through the year, mainly on toast at breakfast, along with the blackberry & apple jam and seville orange marmalade I also make.
Some also gets donated as raffle prizes or sold at coffee mornings.

Gosh!! I seldom make more than 3 or 4lbs of one flavour, I suppose maybe 12lbs total, give away at least 6 jars every year, and I still have bramble jelly in the cupboard from 2007! I love making jam, but we just don't eat it much I guess.
(Well actually I don't eat it at all now 'cos I gave up eating sugar two Christmases ago).

Cookie disaster. Sigh. There's a recipe for Smarties cookies in this month's Weightwatchers Inspiration magazine and I thought I'd give it a try. The dough was far, far too runny so I added more flour to get the consistency right, but they've come out of the oven looking a bit strange... and to top it off the Smarties I bought must have got damp somehow and have come out of the packet all blotchy and ugly. The cookies will probably taste nice but if DH brings any to work I'll have to instruct him to hide them from his work colleages so not to spoil my reputation as baker extraordinaire
Oh and I also made Weightwatchers banana muffins this morning which were a lot prettier than the cookies.0 -
