I am going to try and be strong this week: I need to be able to do this. I really don't feel urges to drink, I believe my issue is when I do drink, I find it hard to stop. After all the past weeks soul searching, I really do think that's the issue. I have issues giving up on free stuff as well, which could be the spoiler, but I need to do this, I think.
It's good for my health: I spent 2.5 hours in the gym and swimming pool last night as well, then watched a film (Percy and the lightening thief - Avoid at all possible cost) and went to bed. I didn't think about the drink until I saw it there this morning, so gave it away. I believe I get a free one a day. I think I am soon to become the most popular person here.
If I fail this week, I will ask them not to upgrade me. I liked the room I stayed in before and it's bigger. But I do like the flat screen, bath robes and stuff :rotfl:
Well done MoD. The idea of getting them to empty the mini-bar is a good one.... Ask them to stock it with soft drinksNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

DON'T DO THAT!!!
GET THE UPGRADE BUT ASK THEM NOT TO GIVE YOU THE FREE BOOZE. THEY WILL HAPPILY NOT GIVE IT TO YOU AS IT SAVES THEM MONEY. ENJOY EVERYTHING ELSE THE UPGRADE GIVES YOU.
I used to think I never had cravings to drink. However, subconsciously I did have the cravings and thus ended up drinking when I said I would not drink. Sometimes I didn't know how I ended up with a glass of wine in my hand.
They say alcohol is cunning. baffling and powerful. It is with me.
If you don't have the first drink, then at least some of the cravings are not as strong. When I stated drinking I never wanted to stop.
It's the first drink that gets you drunk.0 -
Me again!:rotfl:
Jo - was it you I heard mention Nasi Goreng the other day??? I was in Lidl's this morning and they had it in bags in their freezer section. Had some for my lunch and it is YUMMY!! A bag is meant to serve two but I thought I'd have a third ....wish I'd had half now! Never heard of it before but glad I've tried it now!:D

This sounds just like me. As long as I don't have that first drink then I can usually get past the cravings. And, in my case, I very very rarely stopped at one or two.
Stay strong MOD, don't give up the upgrades, just ask them to empty that pesky mini bar. Or ask them to lock it!

Good luck MOD.
I have in my time emptied the mini bar and gone down to get more from the night porter.
I then wet the bed and was unable to stay in that hotel again!Living Sober.
Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

GC, sounds like you're panicked at the idea of MoD not getting a bath robe!
