    morning chaps - :)

    morning Doc. How's it going?

:DNeigh, neigh, and thrice neigh :D
  • It doesn't rain, it pours: due to me staying at hotels a lot with my work, I have suddenly become the top levelstatus and on checkling into the hotel last night, was given a bottle of wine on check in and a room upgrade to include a free mini bar...

I brought the wine in with me today to give to my client and am going to try and stare down the free mini bar like I did the full english on the plane yesterday. If I can get through this, it will be a big test: not only is there lots of it, but it's free: possibly my biggest weakness is a bargain...

MOD Well done on giving the wine away - But, I know what you mean - but as all your going to do is drink it, P*ss it away and get a sore head it doesn't sound much of a bargain!

(someone on here said that to me i I think it was BIS when I was saying Oh I can't just chuck it all out - think of the moneysaving)

Anyway they said - whats the difference between giving away/pouring wine down the sink and drinking it? They both end up in the sewer.

One way hurts your head and in the long run costs you more, the other doesn't.

If you can then please do stay strong.

Free is only ever a bargain if its something you need/want/benefits you.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
  • Hello All
There are SO  many pages to read since I last logged in so I don't really know what has been going on; I will try to catch up later but hope everyone is ok.
I have only managed to add one to my total I'm afraid but hey that's 7 now please Shaggy and a lovely bag of golden coins. If I manage 14 this month will I get another one? I do love a bit of bling ;)

Thanks Fay, that was how I was addressing it. It's actually been made a little easier by coming to terms with it, to be honest. I have also stuck a picture of the wife and kids on the fridge. The receptionist said they'd upgrade me for every stay from now: half tempted to move hotels! But hey, if I am to work this through, I have to work through temptation and, for me, I think that's the battle. I also owe it to my wife who's said she was going drink free until April.

I have friends who don't drink who ask for the mini bar to be emptied before they arrive at the hotel, just for safety's sake. There is nothing to stop you doing this.
Sometimes drink can call out to you, and removing it prevents that happening.

You can get through this MOD - you said the other day you have no cravings to drink remember?

Its official....I'm getting a divorce! Only joking:rotfl::rotfl:Although I think I should as Mr P just called me a sad muppet!! He was referring to me getting excited over the veg I got at Lidl's this morning. There were some real bargains....got all my veg for the week for less than a fiver! Just think how much more excited I'll be when I'm picking my own in the garden in the summer:rotfl::rotfl:

MOD - well done on giving the wine away:T. And try and ignore that mini bar. Its a good idea of GC's to ask for the mini bar to be emptied when you are staying.

    Thanks Graeme,

I am going to try and be strong this week: I need to be able to do this. I really don't feel urges to drink, I believe my issue is when I do drink, I find it hard to stop. After all the past weeks soul searching, I really do think that's the issue. I have issues giving up on free stuff as well, which could be the spoiler, but I need to do this, I think.

It's good for my health: I spent 2.5 hours in the gym and swimming pool last night as well, then watched a film (Percy and the lightening thief - Avoid at all possible cost) and went to bed. I didn't think about the drink until I saw it there this morning, so gave it away. I believe I get a free one a day. I think I am soon to become the most popular person here.

If I fail this week, I will ask them not to upgrade me. I liked the room I stayed in before and it's bigger. But I do like the flat screen, bath robes and stuff :rotfl:
