    Hi,
I'm so glad there's a thread on MSE about cutting down on booze.
I've decided to cut out booze for a month with my b/f.
one week down the line and he has lost 5lbs and I've been munching through sweets like nobody's business.
What alarms me most is the severe headaches I've had in the last two days. I'm also struggling to sleep (hence this post at this ungoly hour!)
I usually have 2 or three glasses of wine after work.
Is this normal to have such a constant banging headache after just a week off the booze?
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

    Hi me4

Welcome & well done on going AF:j:j

When I stopped I got the headaches too....& I felt quite ill for at least a week. I think it was because my body was addicted to it & I was suffering withdrawal symptoms.

That was really when I realised that alcohol was having more of an effect than I had first thought:eek::eek::eek::eek:....that realisation made me want to stop all the more.

LOL at the sweet tooth though....I have eaten more chocolate than ever before however still lost a bit of weight so there must have been loads of calories in wine!!

I think there's something like 250 calories in a large glass of wine. If you go on drinkaware I think it tells you - although it does depend on the alcohol content as well.

Well I am now at 6 AFD's thanks Shaggy - chilled out last night and despite there being an almost full bottle of wine in the fridge, I didn't touch a drop, nor was I tempted.

Haven't slept too well (been awake since 3.30am) but I'm not sure if that is due to the lack of alcohol or just relationship worries. Think it might be the latter...

Not woken as fresh as I would like. Contemplating whether to go for a run but think it might be counter-productive given how tired I feel :o

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers here :D

Thanks Lilith. Yes Happy Mothers day to all the mums.

Hi ME4 and welcome. Well done on your AF week. I guess the headaches will go
    eventually.

Being a Mum, I woke up very early this morning as I'm worrying about DS1. He told me last night that he really hasn't been feeling well for a while. He's had tingling in his fingers and stomach upsets and also a feeling that he needs to walk around - especially when he gets the tingling. He's had to get off a bus and leave the cinema because of it. I'll get him to the doc this week but worrying about it today. It sounds like it could be some sort of anxiety thing to me though and not sure the gp will help. DS1 thinks it is something physical. Anyone familiar with this sort of thing?

Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers :)

Speaking as a happy child-free zone may I say I admire your work enormously & I have no idea how you do it! :D

Hope you're all being pampered :A

    to Me4

DB, have you tried running the symptom through the NHS Symptom Checker online? I've found that to be really helpful at times.

SSA, it's lovely to see you around a bit again - even if it is at 3 in the morning

  • Thanks HB. I just had a look at that and the advice is to go and see a GP.
