    My priority in thinking of sparkles dilemma was that she should definitely go (we all need a bit of fun and company) but if it was me I would prefer the train to driving. Obviously, if she does drive then if all is going well (not too much ribbing) she can stay as long as she chooses.

    Exactly. Its far too easy to think that if you don't drink, or cut down, that your social life will suffer. But it doesn't have to does it?

  • Fedupand skint - just read your post from last night. If I was you, I'd go for Option 3. I personally find it so much easier to avoid situations like that, my friends are the same - "why are you going home early, don't be so boring, what's up with you, etc, etc". It's just easier so say "no, I'm not coming out with you this time". I know I keep saying this but my advice to anyone who has a problem with alcohol is that life is far easier if you just decide enough's enough and stop drinking altogether. Good luck - we're all here to support you.

  • Ok, I'm at it again:eek: On a diet and stuck in the house so what do I do? Bake:eek:

    So far today:

    Twinks hobnobs
    Mini cornish pasties
    Fairy cakes

    And am contemplating a lemon drizzle cake.

    And piglets off his food so had better hope OH is hungry later:rotfl::eek:

    I think if this was my dilemma this weekend I would have to agree with mookiepook on option 3. Once I am out, my willpower completely flies out of the window. I also get this really stupid feeling that oh well, if I'm going to suffer a hangover next day, I may as well really go for it. :( I know I need to get to the point of going out and having just a couple or even none at all, but at the moment I know I would be really mardy and unsociable and so would find staying at home the easier option. Then again if you are sociable enough without a few drinks inside you then great, go for option 2.

    I can't believe I've nearly made it through January AF!! I have to admit I'm quite chuffed with myself. I've noticed a few things that are prob a direct result of me being AF:

    * My skin is clearer
    * I'm sleeping like a log (when poorly piglet lets me **rolls eyes**)
    * Despite it being a 6 week month, I still have money in my bank! (not a lot but much better than I would normally have expected it to be!)
    * I've not had a single argument with OH - in fact, we're getting on rather well!
    * I'm generally more placid.

    Makes me wonder why I ever drink in the first place?? I hope it continues.

    Miss P - well done! :T This really inspires me to keep going. My hubby caved in last night and opened a bottle of red, but I refused to have any and so glad I did as had great night's sleep and managed gym again (2 days on the trot:j). Hope your little one is better soon, Its so misearble when they are pooly.

    And if you're trying to drop a few pound think of all the calories you've NOT drunk.

    FUAS, I would probably go for number 3 at this stage in the game unless you are sure that by driving you would definately leave sober and not just abandon the car until the following morning (I speak from experience).

    I just don't understand why people think they have a right to tease you , or pressurise you to drink or really make any comment about your drinking at all. What business is it of theirs if you drink or not. I have to say I've not experienced this and if I'm not drinking for whatever reason my friends will just nod and say never mind, next time maybe.
    Can you not just tell them to sling their hooks?

    I had another AFD yesterday and I have been watching what I eat and going on the cross trainer so I feel very virtuous! My danger time of he weekend is coming up and we have people over so I shall have to keep an eye on myself

    Thanks for all your kind comments, only quick reply as popping at work!

    Swaying between driving and therefore AF by choice or not going at all as I realised while reading your replies that I don't like big drinking nights out - they're just not for me.

    And this will be on mahoosive drinking night out in a large city centre filled with loads of other people the same and it is not for me. I don't like this at all.

    If it was meeting for a meal first then fine as could have a meal and then leave easily enough.

    Don't think I am bothered enough to go home, get ready and set off back again for an hour or 2!

    At least that's one thing I realised at last - there is no way I am having a hangover on Sat or feeling slightly rough from alcohol.

    I'm the same, so I don't go out with people from work. When the photos turn up on facebook of them all falling over in the road or them being in some horrible club in town, I'm glad I haven't gone. If you're not going to enjoy yourself anyway, then I wouldn't beat yourself up over not going at all!

    Caved in and had a glass of wine last night and didn't really enjoy it that much. Still that's only 2 units this week so I don't feel too bad. :) Won't be drinking tonight as I'm working until gone 11pm then back in at 9am tomorrow, so will have been AF for 4 out of 5 days.

    Can I put myself down for 10 days in February please? Really hoping to not spend any money this month so will hopefully smash that number, but want to set myself something that's definitely achievable!
