Two cockerels cooking in the oven - this afternoon they were running round our friends garden . They are vegetarians and got them by mistake. They have been fighting so asked us to knobble them

I was also wondering how you get cockerels by mistake! I had visions
of 2 vegetarians having a fight cos they'd mistakenly picked up a cockerel each instead of a butternut squash! Then you knobbled them
OR the cockerels are vegetarians and ended up in your friend's garden by
mistake. They asked you to knobble the friends but ended up in the oven
themselves. This scenario assumes the cockerels can talk!

ETA. Thought I had better explain - The fact that our friends are vegetarians meant that they didn't want to kill them themselves. Not sure what made them happy for us to knobble them? Odd really ?Embrace your inner Hillbilly
