What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Good morning and welcome castri :D Your post makes complete sense to me and without them even posting yet, quite a few posters on here. This is what alcohol does, it makes you think you're going to feel better when in fact you don't, you just blot it all out then wake up feeling despondent and down, then the cycle starts again in a few hours. It's normal and natural to feel like this so please be reassured that there are people on here that know what you're talking about and we are all very happy you've joined us to combat it! Speak to you later

Should of got the kids dressed by now, instead I'm sat on here in my PJs :undecided

    Byeeeeeeeeee........bye_bye.gif

hi i would love to join i drink far to much wine nearly every day i have been looking on here for a thread and now i think i have found you.i find i get depressed have adrink maybe bottle then get munchies (chocolate).then get more depressed as putting on weight nothing fit so a buy a bottle of wine (i know it doesnt make sense).im trying to sort my life .im not drunk all the time i just feel like wine will relax me which it doesnt then i cant sleep keep waking up at night.sorry to go on .i am going to try and give up wine i hope im in the right place sorry if im not.:(

I think that most of us can relate to the negative spiral - drink > feel bad > drink to remove the bad feelings > feel bad > drink to remove the bad feelings > etc etc

This kind of drinking is so harmful emotionally and physically, and I know some people who drank as they were depressed. They needed to see a Doctor, as no-one on this thread is remotely qualified to diagnose things. We just tell our stories and experiences.

Many people set themselves a goal of remaining alcohol free for a certain number of days. That seems a good place to start. If the goal keeps changing (downwards) then the problem with alcohol could be greater than initially thought. Normal people change their drinking to accomplish their goals.
Alcoholics change their goals to accomplish their drinking.

Good luck - the journey to be AF for me has been difficult (and still is) but fascinating, rewarding, and quite often very good fun!!

Three old ladies and their dogs were sitting on a park bench having a quiet conversation when a flasher approached from across the park.

The flasher came up to the ladies, stood right in front of them and opened his trench coat.

    Gertrude immediately had a stroke.

Then Maude also had a stroke.

But Tillie, being older and more feeble, couldn't reach that far.

    ETA: WB, you okay? :D

  • Good morning everyone! I ended up drinking a bottle of wine last night and I feel absolutely awful this morning. My stomach is in bits and I resemble a corpse. My face should be put on posters to scare young children into never drinking.

    How is everyone doing?

Oh dear phoenix_dragon, you paint an amazing picture of yourself but we've all been there and can sympathise. When you sober up, try to hold on to how awful you were feeling this morning to try and stop yourself doing it all again. Do you know why you had a bottle last night? Was it just a 'one glass lead to another' scenario? Hope you pick up soon, try a walk in the fresh air if you can and plenty of water.

:wave:Welcome castri09 you are very much in the right place. Jo's absolutely right that probably everyand support one on here recognises the pattern you describe. There's heaps of advice on here and a good laugh along the way with lovely people. Like sparkle said there's lots of ways of going about it. We're FAFFing about at the moment (Fabulous Alcohol Free February??) in fact some of us faff about every month :D Why not try just one AF day and see how you go.

    Morning everyone TGIF.
