I'm in Glasgow too and our postie doesn't come until between 12 & 1pm.

I have to say (touch wood) we have always had good service from him, and as my DS orders a lot of stuff online he has to deliver parcels to us regularly. Always cheery, even when soaked through or dripping with sweat in this weather. If he has to leave a card, the parcel is always at sorting office next morning. I met him once when I was on my way to pick something up and he said not to bother, he would bring it out the next day.

I always give him a good tip at Christmas time too. I don't think many people do this now. It was always the 'done thing' when I was young that postmen, coalmen (remember them?) etc were given a tip but this seems to be dying out as I don't know anybody else who does.

Like other posters, I think people are too quick to complain about silly things now, as someone said take a look at the teatime news and thank your stars that the only thing you have to complain about is somebody walking on your grass.
