I was told by my postie that Royal mail postmen are now on what is deemed job and finish so most of them are in a tearing hurry. It was far better before the new management took over apparently .Before then all the postmen actually worked their duty hours so they did the job properly. Its only human nature if you are told as soon as you finish your round you may go home you tend to run and try and cut corners.

Hmmm my postie often does this(well he puts it behind the bins next to the door) but that's because he knows I don't appreciate being woken up at 6:30am :) neither does my neighbours who are shift workers. If he can see I'm up and about he'll get me to take in any packages for our neighbours too :)
Frankly I think it's very considerate of him to not wake me at 6am for a parcel :)

I don't know where you live, but the earliest you should regularly receive a post delivery now is around 8.30 to 9.00 AM (earlier on a Saturday).

This is since the 2nd delivery was scrapped.

We are also supposed to leave gates "as found" ie open if it was open when we got to it, & should not walk across lawns. You could complain to the delivery office & see if that helps.

LOL, in our local paper there was an article about a young boy who, on his way to school, kept finding these bands. Now he is an avid red band collector apparently.

Kinda annoying then the postie turns up at between 1030-1400, which is of course when most people are in...

Our postie is rarely to be seen before noon. Also, he seems to put those 'while you were out' cards through without ever chapping the door with the parcel - i get the feeling they can't be bothered taking the parcels out in case people arent in, so they fill in those cards in advance. I have complained to my local office about this but am yet to get a satisfactory answer.

My postie kept walking across my front garden, trampling plants. When I spoke to him about it he said 'well, the previous people had stepping stones for me to walk on' - that was over EIGHT years ago!!! I took them away to stop him walking over the garden!

He kept doing it so I complained to his depot and said I'd bill them for all the plants of he continued. It stopped the next day. Bet he hates me though.

Same here! In theory, the afternoon post is supposed to have been abolished leaving only the morning round, but it seems to be the other way round. I notice you're in Scotland too... I wonder if we're in the same area?

I'm in Scotland too (Glasgow) and I never see my postie before 11.30, normal delivery is around 1pm. Have had several experiences of putting card through the door to say they tried to deliver a parcel but no reply. On one occasion we watched him come in the gate and when we picked up the mail there was a card, opened the door and asked him if he had a parcel for us only to be told that he never put the card through the door, it must have been a van driver. Also when you go to the sorting office to pick up the parcel, even though it says on the card to leave 24hrs it normally takes 2/3 days for it to get back to the sorting office as apparently it goes back through the whole internal loop again. Had Parcelforce not deliver a parcel as the address was incorrect only to find when I travelled the 6miles to pick it up that the address was 100% correct, complained every time but never had an apology.

Had a funny experience with an interlink delivery a few months ago, was tracking it online and it eventually showed returned to depot no reply. I called them and said I'd been waiting in all day for the delivery and they'd hadn't been. She phoned the driver while i'm on hold and said that he left a card, I said no card had been left, he then said that he left it in a side bit as I had no letterbox, I said I do have a letterbox and there's nowhere else he could have left it and he hadn't mistaken my neighbours door for mine as they all had letterboxes. She told him to re-deliver it straight away and within the hour the parcel appears at my door, delivered by a very p****d off driver. Was walking through the local supermarket 2 days later and passed him, you could see him trying to recall where he knew me from and the look on his face when it dawned on him how he recognised me.
