still not happening today as he got a phone call yesterday and has been called into work today, DS2 is off to friends so home alone, OH found SC BM and blender in the loft yesterday so after a good clean I may put them to use any ideas for a easy first meal in the SC. I have most meats in frezzer and veg. ps bought red lentils yesterday to not sure what to make of them but i'm game for anything once.

Still got half the Sneaky ways to save the pennies thread to read - its great lots of good tips and a right good laugh too.

  • Hi Guys!

I've been keeping my head down the last couple of days, but been reading. So sorry for all the poorlies, and worried, hugs to you all, especially Lowesy and OH & Diva.
Jayne & George, I haven't seen you posting on here as frequently recently, hope you two and Pixel are OK.

Been busy at work this week, and not as much OS done as I'd planned, after a good strong start to the week. Today will be blitzing the house, baking bread and treats.

Bitsy and NPM, you guys are dangerous! I love Cheesey scones, and am the only on the house who does, so guess what happens when I make them? Might have to now, though! Will try and squeeze them into the freezer to stop me scoffing them all at once.;)

Will try and do the mealplan too, only one week left in my current shift pattern, then life will settle down again, and I'll be back to working only when the kids are at school. Life will be much more OS and organised then.

Hope you all have a fab day, hugs to those in need, and to those of you at the London meet, have a great time, [STRIKE]don't[/STRIKE] go showing us up by being too loud and lairy and making too much noise, and having too much fun!!:beer:

    PS HAppy Birthday Aussielass!

  • Morning all

(((hugs))) to all who need them.

It's beautiful and sunny here :j and I'm of out to watch the rugby this afternoon! It's first time I've been in almost 2 months, what with me being on hols and the way the matches fell. I also haven't seen my friend who I go with since before my hols so we have loads to catch up! We normally gossip through the match but today will be even worse :rotfl:

Need to pop to the library and to Lidl on my way back too. Dinner will be stuffed peppers and potatoes. Going to have a quiet night in with a DVD I think. I'm enjoying this 4 day weekend, I really feel relaxed :)

    Have a good day all

Hiya folks. Been a bit MIA this week. Batch of sewing arrived Monday. Have just finished it now. Yesterday got a message to say that a very big batch is on its way. Will help funds which is a good thing. Also got a couple more sewing jobs I need to chase up, just stuff for friends, but I don't want them turning up when it's not convenient! Had a phone call from colleague at former choir I belonged to. We did the new stagewear a couple of years ago. She was ringing to ask me if I would sew for them again, as they are hoping to have new gear again this year. It's not brilliantly paid, but as pay at day job is being regraded as of 1st April it's less of an issue. It's money at the end of the day. Work can be done at home at hours to suit myself.

OS not ticking along too well in the housework dept. I'm trying to rest my arms as Physiotherapist has abandoned me! Also when the sewing starts, everything else stops. Food wise been fairly well organised except that I have bought far too much fruit and veg on super6 at Aldi. WIll organise that later.

Have to take ds for a run thru with accompanist for competition next week. Not looking forward to that, as I'm not familiar with where I'm going and I find things like that a bit stressy at the moment. Back to Sunday drives tomorrow to Liverpool for ds's rehearsal

Getting by SADwise, but a bit dozy with the extra medication, particularly finding it hard to get up in the mornings. Still, head is more in control.

Can't think of much just now. Some kind of fish tonight and maybe curry tomorrow.

DD is now a lapsed vegetarian it seems, she had a prawn sandwich a few weeks ago. I don't quite know what has happened, but it seems although she wouldn't eat big lumps of meat like a steak, she is eating meat again. It wasn't really ever her favourite fare. I guess being away at Uni makes it harder to cope with on a day to day basis. The girls in her flat don't cook but the lads do and they're all meat eaters.

Onward! Must get ready to go out.

Which team, Flutterby? We are Sale Sharks season ticket holders, and playing Toulouse at home tomorrow.....somehow I don't think we'll win, especially as we can't get through to the next round in the Heineken Cup thanks to Northampton's stonking game against Munster last night!

    Morning all!

Diva- keeping your Tris & Michelle in my thoughts today & hope better news comes along soon.
A very happy birthday to Aussielass
Csarina- safe trip there and home, hope you had a lovely time and nice 'break' from all that's going on atm :)

Welcome to Jaynnie :hello: Just make sure you keep that kettle full at all times as it is SO easy to get 'lost' in the threads here on MSE. Go in at 9am and don't make it back out till lunchtime :rotfl:

Up since about 8, but not got a whole lot done as of yet. Soon as I was awake enough I started Cocktail (system sprucer upper, lol) on the Mac and let it run while pottering about the kitchen. Need to get the sink and drainboard cleaned, cannot for the life of me keep the scummy/hardwater goo off of it and even when it's just been cleaned it doesn't really look it, still white filmy looking areas......driving me batty!! :D

The 'fan man' never did show up this past week, but did finally call to say he'll be here Monday. Hope so, as the bathroom turns into a total sauna now when I shower (like 'em hot & steamy, lol) and takes ages to de-fog even with the window open! Need to get the hoover run as "The Beast" is still dropping hair like nobody's business....how can she not be bald by now?!! Other than that it will be a big puter day as I've lots to get done on here and tomorrow will be a puter-free day with batch cooking and some baking to see to.

May very well pop in later for a catch up.

    Good morning guys,

It's been a busy week at chez Smoky, DD1 had a great birthday - 10  where has all the time gone? loved his lappy and is now filming all sorts to put on utube with the webcam. The kiddies are off swimming with sis this afternoon so a couple of quiet hours to do the ironing then. I'm going to change the beds and blast upstairs in a minute before lunch (left over beef stew) and try and repair or remove a broken slat off one of the beds.

The weather is gorgeous but cold today and if it the same tomorrow we will go for a long walk up the hills.

I have been looking at our direct debits and have cut the landline down to £9.15 per month (the last bill was £54 for 11 calls and rental ) and will tackle the broadband on Monday. I need to compare gas and Electric too to see if I can get that cheaper. I phone Sky as they are the cheapest by far but the offer of all 3 is still not in our area due to the telephone exchange not being ready. I have also done our first internet shop for this month for tomorrow.

Tea will be one to keep the kids happy - an assortment of crackers with cheese, pate, jam and anything else they want on them followed by ice cream, I will have a salad :rotfl::rotfl:

Gentle hugs to all in need especially Lowsey, pen-pin, Tris and Michelle. xxx

Happy Birthday Aussie  have a great day. xxx

    Have a good one peeps.

    Good morning all.

AussieLass HSthbdayparty-1.gif Hope that you have a good one & enjoy the meet. Please take some photos for the rest of us :)

Diva, comforting.gif Still keeping Michelle & Tris in my prayers

Lowsey & DH world.gif Thinking about you both

A quickie from me today as I'm waiting for my Sister in Law to come down. We have decided to spend time together on a Saturday now as we were both a little lost last week now that we don't have MIL. Saturday used to be the day that we went to see her for a long period of time & take her shopping etc. DH has bought some Rolo doughnuts from Tesco as a treat for us :)

Lunch is a sandwich and winter salad of grated carrots, chickpeas, sultanas and a lemon & garlic dressing and tea is sweet & soour chicken as we didn't want it last night.

HShuggies.gif to anyone else who needs one & have a good day all xx

Not the cooking expert on here, but think the ones who are, are otherwise occupied or at the meet, my suggestion, from lazy DG towers, for your first SC meal would be mince or any kind, with stock, a handful of lentils, and veg if you wish, and make either a cottage pie or spagbol with it when done. TBH the lentils have gone in unnoticed at DG towers. Have fun.

Cranky & the house elf - hope you are both OK.

Nice to hear from you Smoky, glad thatDS enjoyed his birthday and the lappy went down well. Think about when you say SD is 25 and where has that gone!!
