Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 23 January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS lovelies wave.gif
bdaysurprise.gif Aussielass - Enjoy your time over here and have a good day at the meet!
Essex girl - Oh your poor son, hope his elbow feels a bit better today.
Hester - I agree with Floss, you work so hard for so little recompense so I would consider that too.
Jackie - bad luck hon, that is a shame
Sunnyday - it's not just you, they moved the smilies two days ago and took off a couple, and added the smile. Having posted in the Arms I am glad to see the back of the rolling eyes one personally.. giggle.gif, though I think the confused one was useful.
Pen-Pin - your words about your FIL made me well up too, it's lovely that you both have that love and connection and that you got to say everything you wanted to. I hope his passing is peaceful and painless.
Anniestar - Lovely to have you posting and Mark has been very informative and amusing in your absence.
Snoozer - hope the breast screening goes well and that your OHs toothache gets better.
Jo - Info on Arnica here. You can buy arnica cream and remedies from Boots or Holland and Barrett etc but I normally buy the arnica gel in a huge bottle from QVC
nic1 - That is such sad news. I hope they both find what makes them each happy, even if it isn't each other and that he can still be part of your life as he obviously loves you all very much.
welcome2.gif Jaynnie - so nice to have you with us and your post was not too long at all. (as you can see from mine!!giggle.gif) Looking forward to getting to know you better
No change in Tris or Michelle. Michelle is in a really bad way so any prayers would be very gratefully received.
Really enjoyed the corned beef quiche we made and accompanied it with a huge salad which was delicious. So tonight's dinner will be the same thing. My OH went to Tescos and bought some nice thick pork steaks, 3 pkts of bacon and some stewing steak under their 3 for £10 offer. Thinking of cutting up the pork steaks and making a huge casserole on the slow cooker but my OH wants us to use three of them as part of a roast on Sunday. So - indulgence or sensible eating.. Let's see who wins on Sunday.giggle.gif
Going to make savoury nibbly sunflower seeds later today and some hummus for sandwiches. I have all the ingredients for both in the cupboards. My OH will probably dislike both and have to stick to cheese sandwiches although I suspect if he gets up before me on Sunday I might wake to bacon sandwiches! (and I will try not to think of the pasta dishes that could have been made that much tastier with the bacon) *Sighs* I am a hopeless case at the moment.
Ok, so I hope everyones weekend starts well, and that anyone feeling poorly feels better soon. With love, light and ghug.giffor all.

Morning Diva and others to follow.

Work today, so it's back to see what's going on over in Newquay. I did well to shut everything out for 2 days. Wandered about Truro yesterday, did not need anything so spent little money. I did have a nice chinese meal at lunch though.
Weird fish shop had loads of stuff on sale and it was tempting!
Left overs for supper yesterday, so a saving there...
Well not much else to say...... have a good weekend

    Morning all

Haven't posted for a few days as, well, nothing to report really, but have been reading the thread and I do feel lucky really as theres so much unhappiness about. So, BIG (((hugs))) to everyone who needs them, my thoughts are with you all.

Well, I switched my microwave on Thursday evening and it went bang!! Totally kaput. OH says he will look at the fuse but I dont hold out much hope, it has given me 10 years loyal service after all. So, now I'm wondering whether to buy another one. My first thought was how am I going to manage without it, but then worked it out that I only use it mainly for warming up food or heating b/beans, etc., which can be done on the hob. I think I'll leave it a while and see how I get on without it. Clears space on the worktop though:j

Have a great Saturday everyone, hope all those going on the "meet" have a great time (from an ex-London girl)

    Happy birthday AussieLass:bdaycake:

:bdaycake:Aussielass - Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day. I would have loved to be at the London Meet, but have my cousin and his wife coming up for the day. Don't see much of them usually, so looking forward to that.
Diva - your post has made me feel quite hungry already! Sorry Michelle is not improved. Still keeping her and Tris in my prayers.
Sorry about your microwave Remmie - I thought I'd do without mine after the original one blew up...then found I really did miss it, so ended up replacing it. I found I was using it mostly for defrosting stuff, but when I didn't have it I was always forgetting to take stuff out of the freezer in good time!
N9eav - hope your day goes well - and glad you've been able to forget about the case a bit during the past few days. You must get to see a lot of nasty/sad stuff in your work.
Well, I'm supposed to be getting the floors cleaned before breakfast, so I'd better et a move on!
((HUGS)) to all who need one.
    Take care ,everyone.

Prayers for Tris & Michelle as requested.
Marie, how dare you refer to me as loony, lol.
Nic, sorry to hear you news.
Happy Birthday Aussie, I wish I could have attended the meet, but no point as I wouldn't have been able to hear anything.
Roll on 1st of Feb, I'm seeing the nurse for a hearing test. I need to book in a smear test too, I wonder if I can have them both done at the same time!
Plans for today include the usual merry round of housework & being deaf, what an exciting life I lead.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

:j:beer:Happy Birthday Aussie - have a lovely day:beer::j Sorry I can't made the meet today (am gutted) have a great time & take loads of photos.

Have a very stressful morning so far - turned on my laptop which I got back yesterday only to find that it won't turn on  it was working fine yesterday. It means I need to have a complete windows reload so I will have to rush it to the repair shop this morning - see if they can get it started quickly so I can transfer some stuff off. Also it means I lose my online fax which I need Monday. Urrrgh, luckily have this little netbook which I can use for internet access.

MSD - thanks for asking, DS is a little better but still can't go football with his Dad which is why I can't make the London meet :( however I am telling myself that everything happens for a reason and trying to be positive, it was obviously not my time to see Aussie's Bumble Bees:D

Today not too much OS im afraid, need to make loads of phone calls, sort out laptop, broken down lorry and reorganise Mondays work. Will get some washing and ironing done. OH eating out after the match so just me and the kids for dinner, will be something simple.

Anyway, need another cup of coffee, (((hugs))) wherever needed, have a good Saturday.x

    Morning everyone.
H was up with DS 3 times in the night and I slept through each of them  Most unlike me :o House is quiet as kids are currently chuffing their breakfast - now I know how to keep them quiet :rotfl:
Could really do with going to Mr S but it was such a PITA last Saturday I don't want to go. I guess if I got up there early enough it won't be so bad - will have to see.
Not much going on here. Will try and get the kids out for a walk, definately think DS is more difficult when he doesn't burn off some energy. Hope the weather is better than yesterday.
I STILL have to make my sausage rolls, no more treats in the house so guess some baking will take place today.
Not sure about tea, might do bacon and onion potato hotpot. Meal planning starts again Monday :o
Must not forget to get a chicken out of the freezer.

Aussie - Happy Birthday  Hope you're enjoying the cooler weather ;)

Diva - lots of healing vibes for Tris and Michelle still xx

Hester - hope your ear clears up soon. Just out of curiosity - have you tried steaming to unblock your ear? I can't remember if it is due to say wax or congestion <dumb blonde alert> ;)

Everyone going to the OS meet - have a fun day. Shall be with you all in spirit!

    Hola! everyone

:bdaycake: Aussie - have a good meet all of you;)

I awoke this morning at 7.30, after going to bed at 11.30, and cannot remember any noctural walks for nature, or barking during the night, so feel a lot brighter. DH is still asleep though, I do not know how he manages to sleep so long (8.40 here now) Will tempt him out of the pit with a cuppa in a mo.

Forecast is 15 and sun/cloud, so that will do me, actually looks overcast atm, but looks like you are sharing your rain with us on Monday and Tuesday, so will leave the HW until then, good excuse eh!

Ah! I hear signs of movement from above, so someone can make me another cupppa now:A Market today, to stock up with fresh F&V, found some precooked mince and veg in the freezer, so will have that supplemented with fresh veg for tea, maybe with some pasta for DH as I am cutting down. Breakfast is Aldi Weetabix (brought from the UK) and lunch is very minimal, i.e. a cracker with a little cheese.

    ((:grouphug:)) where needed
    Take care - DG

A quick one from me this morning I am about to load the car with my bruiser of a sewing machine and head off for the machine quilting workshop down in Northants.

Hope the London Meet goes well, say hello to Aussie Lass for me. It hardly seems any time since they were here before.

Bightish at the moment, hope it stays that way for the rest of the day.

Morning all, hope all is well with everybody.
    Thinking of Michelle & Tris.

We had a lovely meal out with our friends last night. We had a pact to all keep to the cheapie menu,so the damage wasn't too bad.:beer:No one else is up yet,so enjoying some peace and quiet, even the dog is snoring.Looks quite foggy out.

I shall probably make chicken curry tonight with the leftover meat- I already have a biryani style rice in the freezer,so quite easy.Prob do a veg shop on the market once the visitors have left-don't think they'll be too late as they are going to the Lakes from here.Nothing much happening,so think I'llwake & take the hound out.

    Enjoy the weekend.x :)
