    I have o2 broadband

So that is what BT FON is. I was searching for wireless network with my iphone and came accross BT FON which you have to pay to get access.

This is a major risk i think because hackers can access you router, and see what you type, etc. I would surely get this turned off straight away. major security risk.

BT have an internet security experts, i saw a programme about internet security on TV and an internet expert from BT was on it explaining the risk about wireless networks.

Best thing you can do with the FON unit's is to flash the firmware with custom firmware to do man in the middle attacks. One of the reasons I'd never bothered to connect to a FON :) you don't know who's in the middle sniffing your traffic.

I have one to flash but haven't got around to it, as the UK ones are harder to flash than the ones shipped elsewhere. Due to the UK ones listening on 0.0.0.0 :(

Or buy your own router which then BT can't control.

How about asking us if we want to Opt In to your revenue generating at our expense scheme?

If like me your BT username is stangely not accepted when trying to log in to Opt Out, call this number and ask to be removed from this "service"
    0800 022 3322

My internet speed has gone up since FON is GON!

Why don't you 'opt in' to another ISP (reading the contract first)?
