Oh, I suffer so bad with this. My ds (very prem) is 2yrs nxt wk and in 9-12m clothes but is getting taller by the day and so getting skinnier. His waist is less than a 3mth old !! But he needs the length. He eats all day (much more than my 4yr old!!)

Boys clothes are worst than girls !! No legging and they think baby boys are 'thicker' so are so wide it's a joke. Even skinny fit fall down ! LOL !
Tops are the same..he either has short sleeves or it looks like a tent.

The best I have found is Debenhams 'teddy boy' range, Zara and some american from TK Maxx.

Will be following this thread with interest !

Try Pumpkin Patch - they have a sale on and clothes sizes seem quite slim fitting
  • My eldest is 'noormal' size, but very tall and my youngest is short and very skinny (lucky thing), they both wear Gap Long & Lean jeans or Mini Boden with the waist drawn in.The thing is with these brands is that they are extremely hard-wearing and even tho they are now hand-me-downs for my youngest they still look as good as new.
I would steer away from Tesco & Asda stuff as in my experience they always seem to be huge around the waist.

It's Start-Rite shoes everytime with us too. Much better fit for skinny feet & better quality too.
Just don't be fooled by the look of these tho http://www.startriteshoes.com/childrens-shoes/3425_0/CATY > I feel in love with them, but regretted every minute as they were so very difficult to get on & off. Her nursery even banned her from wearing them :rotfl:

My daughter is now 16 but has always been tall and skinny. I used to buy Gap jeans, from the sale rail if I was lucky but full price if not. I also struck lucky at Tesco once or twice. In a way I was lucky as she was a tomboy so would wear jogging bottoms quite happily. For shoes I used to get Startrite or the continental brands like Elefanten.

I found it a lot more difficult when she hit her teens and wanted to wear the same clothes as her friends. She is a size 6 but requires a long leg so we find Topshop is the best option.

I can remember about four or five years ago the fittings for children seemed to get larger. There was always one style of school trousers from M&S that fitted better than the others. I picked a couple of pairs up for her and it was only when I got home and compared them to her previous pair that I realised they were a lot bigger than the difference between one age and the next.

For boys M&S sells some school trousers in regular and long lengths so I used to buy my son a younger age in the long length to get a better fit.
