Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 21st January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS lovelies
Lowesy - Still thinking of you and your husband honhugs.gif
Sunnyday - What a pain about the cupboards! Hope you find some some suitable ones soon.
Bitsy - Glad you got some sleep hon, hope it carries on for you
Cranky - Hope you and the house elf are doing well
Nic1 - Pleased to hear that the op went well. Make sure you rest up now and catch up on your reading!
Mehefin - Congrats to your son, that is great!
Essexgirl - How is your husband today?
SunnyGirl and Noahs - hugs.gif
Pipkin - Hope you feel better today
Poohbear - Belated Birthday wishes to you, hope you had fun.
Morwenna - Thank you honey
thankyou.gif for your continued thoughts and prayers for Tris and Michelle. Michelle regained consciousness briefly earlier today which is a good sign. They want to operate on her once she is a bit stronger. Tris is still a bit spacey (from the concussion I assume?) and in a lot of pain from his broken arm, 6 broken ribs and the gash in his leg, but no internal injuries. He is also having memory problems.. And I also had a text from Pam, which is great.
Finished some reviews last night so will have a little extra in the bank account next month for the in-laws. Need to find something else now to get a few extra pennies in.
Have ground to a halt with my food/meal planning. Did some baking though and made a jam sponge for my OH and decluttered some cherries from the baking cupboard. Also some apple and mince pies as my OH loved the last batch.
Dinner last night was fish pie with a big salad this time but today I have a friend coming around that I haven't seen in ages and he is bringing KFC for dinner as his treat so I will be enjoying my Zinger meal. Lunch will be HM bread with cheese and more salad as I am all about the lettuce and fresh peppers right now!
I hope today is the best it can be for everyone and that anyone feeling poorly gets better soon. With love, light and hugs to all.

Good morning, MSD. (((Hugs))) to all those you are worried about at the moment. I hope you get some good news soon.

Haven 't had much time on here lately so I am sending (((hugs))) to all those with sadness in their lives.

Well, I don't know where my time goes but I honestly think that France has shorter days than the UK! No matter what I plan, I never get as much done as I hope and I think I'll just have to come to terms with it.

DH is alternating between working for customers and working on the house so it's very busy here but at least things are being done. The ceiling that he has been threatening to take down for months has now successfully been put on hold until we come back from the UK, so he is concentrating on the front hall now, plasterboarding between the beams, ready for plastering and painting over the next week.

He visited customers to do a quote yesterday; they have a holiday home which they stay in themselves now and again, and rent out the rest of the time. They want someone to do changeovers between guests so DH volunteered me! I don't mind; it's not far away, the pennies will come in handy and, as they will need the garden maintained, we can share the work between us. It should be fun. The village is beautiful so will be a nice place to spend some time, too.

Well, dinner last night was a rushed affair with chips, eaten and cleared away in a hurry. Today, I have a really meaty chicken carcass that will be turned into a stew with lots of lovely veggies that need using up. DH has taken to making a fresh fruit salad for us every night which is lovely with creme fraiche.

I have to make a starter for eight people for a dinner party we are going to on Sunday. I've been looking for recipes but I need something I can make here and transport for an hour in the car. I have decided to do stir-fried chicken strips with a choice of dips, so I will be trawling the net later for ideas. I hope to get it all done on Saturday so I'm not panicking on Sunday morning!

Well, I think I'll have another cupppa. I woke up early because a dog has been barking on and off all night and kept waking me up. It's happened a few times lately so I think one of the neighbours might be complaining to the local Mairie. It's so annoying, especially as I've only just caught up on the sleep I lost when I had my horrid cough recently. I don't understand how the dog's owners can stand the noise. They must be able to blank it off but I know some of the people here are getting fed up with it.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good day.

Morning. Day off for me... first one in eight days, so I shall potter about the house and do nothing much. I might get some shopping and chicken food and possibly take everyone out for pizza hut tonight. I found a 50% off voucher on this site.

Yesterday was busy at work and I must say I was impressed with some things. At some stage the mess in the house will need to be cleaned up and AVIVA who insure the property have been excellent so far. Green Army !

Travel insurance for my holiday have paid up in full for delayed luggage, so I almost have enough to book 2 flights for me and the missus! :D

Bought Chinese on the way home last night to find OH had made the same dish at home....typical, so we have plenty of chinese in the freezer now.

Bins to do lunches to make and chilling to do, so TTFN

Chilly morning here, but all the snow has gone, so hopefully it will be safe to venture to work.
Still no sign of the proofed copy of the work that is very urgent, the deadline was 11 yesterday morning, ho hum.
Hubby has an interview next week, fingers crossed, he's getting board at home.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

Diva so glad you've had a bit of good news. OH is fine thanx, the swelling & bruising has gone down - he really needs to learn that he is not 20 anymore!

Hester - very best of luck for OH

    (((Lowesy)))

Thursday already, week is flying by. Today need to try and make a doc's appointment which means phoning at exactly 8am and crossing fingers/touching wood etc. Bit annoyed as doc wants to see me before he gives me a new prescription even though I saw the locum a month ago for the same thing.

Other than that its the normal washing, housework and paperwork. Leftover chicken turned into curry for tonight and the carcas will be made into stock today or tomorrow.

Need to do some baking but really don't think will have time today.

    Have a good one.x

Good Morning! Up early again - have decided it must just be an age thing and I don't need as much sleep any more! Lovely meal with friends last night and everything went into the DW and I was able to put it away at bedtime - result: clear and clean kithchen when I came down this morning! One reason for their visit was that they have done the cruise we're due to go on next month and they were sharing with us which visits they had enjoyed. (In fact they have done it twice!!) Made me begin to feel quite excited! It's our 40th in July, so this is a sort of early celebration, plus part of my retirement "wish list".
Need to crack on with sorting out my messy house today (although you will be pleased to know that the rooms on view last night were quite repectable - just the others where the doors remained firmly closed that are dreadful!)
I need to go back to read the last pages of yesterday's thread and catch up with all that's happening. have a good day - and take care!

    Morning all,

Cold one here again, off to work today, so need to go and make my lunch up in a while, ham and hm chutney I think.

OH managed to get 15 huge rolls of loft insulation yesterday for £15 :money:, so I think he is going to attempt to do the loft tonight, it should make a vast difference, as its quite a cold drafty house.

Not sure about dinner, will do and rummage in the freezer in a while, might just be something quick like pizza and salad tonight.

I have sainsbugs delivering tonight, I am very pleased to be back online and able to do my shopping, it was costing me a fortune popping down the shops every few days .

    Hope everyone is well.

    Have good days all xx

i'll need to rummage somthing different out of the cupboards for tomorrow...

i went to AS DA last night, and spent less than £20 quid, so i'm pleased with myself for that...

i have a huge amount of housework to get through so i will start a list this lunch time to try to get me all organised when i get home tonight... (ha-ha like a mere list could manage that:) )

    Morning everyone!

It's a bit breezy here this morning, but dry for the time being. There's rain due mid afternoon though. Would be good to get some washing dry, but I've nothing to wash! DH has kept that all up to date. With him being off, he's been sorting out cupboards and tidying things up. My kitchen has never looked so tidy - I put a knife or spoon down, and before I know it, he's cleared it away and put it into the dishwasher!! :)

Got a busy day ahead at work and then back out for a meeting at 7.30 tonight. DH is on dinner duty, so think it's a stir fry we're having.

Hope you all have a good day, whatever you're up to.

I am soooo tired this morning! Late one last night and I have a sore hip/knee at the mo which kept getting cramps and waking so I'm not in the best form this morning....

My Daughter looks like some kind of reject from the witches of eastwick this morning...her hair is everywhere and I really do not have the strength to fight with her to get it brushed. Would I be such a terrible mother if I stuck it in a pony tail and bathed her later?

Anyway I need to check the meal plan thread as I can't find mine and I'm not sure what's for dinner:rolleyes:

I have a couple of MS jobs today (one at lunch time and a phone call tonight) nothing too strenuous and I have a few more planned for Saturday and for Monday afternoon (day off). Looking formward to going to Mum's at the beginning of February where I plan on doing absolutely nothing for five whole days :D

OS wise... some wahing to go in and the kitchen is just to wipe round before work so that's something however the living room is a disgrace so that's the next task!

    ?Have a good day
